Default Gear Sounds!! faint ccccrrrrrrrhhhhh

I have a 2007 Z 6MT with about 350 miles on it. I was wondering if I'm supposed to be able to hear the gears spinning when I'm in neutral with the foot off the clutch. It goes away once I depress the clutch (makes sense because the free gears will slow to a stop once I disconnect them from the engine.

I'm still breaking it in, so I've never taken it over 3.5k. No gear grinds...always granny shifting.

My only gripe is that after letting the car sit there for a few minutes to warm up, and then proceed to head to the stop sign at the end of the block, it takes a while for the car to get back into first (I never force it).

Getting back into first is easy once the car has gone a few more blocks. (Yes, I depress the clutch all the way)

So I'm just wondering....for the rest of you, can you hear your transmission spinning away when you're in neutral? Mechanically, speaking, yes, it should be spinning all the gears freely on the shaft, but am I supposed to be able to hear it?

Thanks!
