Not true. Some people can easily afford a 911 but opt for a boxster because they're cheap or because they dont need/want to go all out. I know of a lot of people who make good money (200k plus) but they buy economy cars when they can easily afford a decent luxury car. Some people are just modest even wealthy people.

My choice, if money was no object and i had to pick between a Z or a Cayman S, would be the Cayman. The Cayman is so much more practical with a trunk in the front and in the back. It is also lighter and has better build quality/materials.

LSD does not make or break a sports car. In fact, LSD leads to turn-in understeer, so if your car is well balanced, you don't need/want an LSD. Look at the Elise/Exige as an example. Both cars perform better on the track without an LSD. The only reason Lotus made the LSD available as an option was because Autocrossers complained that they were spinning their wheels coming out of low speed turns. On a REAL track, The LSD hinders performance by causing slow turn in.

The conclusion is that if the car doesn't need and LSD, there's no benefit of putting one on.

Then again, I'm probably preaching to the wrong person considering your name is "streetracer".

Actually, the basic Caymen runs 13.8 in the quarter so it is on par with the Z if not quicker. But I would trade my Z in a heartbeat for a Caymen S though

I bought a new cab 4s. The reason I bought it was for the awd mostly to drive it every day up here in the winter and the inevitable snow. I really liked the look of the boxster as well as the cayman but it was that damn awd thing that forced me to go with the 911. If I had to do it all over again I probably would have bought a GT3 and just drove my YJ or TJ in the winter but live and learn I guess!!!!

Or do dealerships start them off at less than MSRP?

In canada they're 120,000!

Damn, while the performance numbers make me love that car, I would not feel comfortable spending that kind of money on a Chevy haha.

[QUOTE=gothchick]Nice vid. I like the way they use the heel/toe technique. I need to practice that one a bit more in tight corners.

Ditto here. RSX = FWD = TARD!![/QUOTE

Thanks! Me too, I try heel/toe shifting on my Mazdaspeed MX-5 and I almost kill myself. Lol...

depends what your idea of affordable is.. If you're buying brand new like I did, then no it isn't that affordable.. back to the thread.. the cayman S is an amazing machine and i would love to own one.. Although i'd spend the extra 10-20k for a GT car ( 2 or 3 )... I'm not a 911 turbo fan

Look at the current market and find me another high performance FR two seater for 27k brand new. The Z is one of the most affordable sports cars. And if it's one of the most affordable, some may say that it's the poor man's sports car.

Nope. I read an article about it recently and it is not street legal, yet. And damn, that thing is hella fast. There are 3 engine options. The article I read was based on the Atom with the middle engine and the performance numbers were kick ***. I would love to see what the most powerful engine is capable of.
