Default Best Driving Roads

I searched the internet for good driving roads in America and found nothing but U.K. roads, so I'm hoping we can start a good list of some of the best in the U.S. Hopefully this can become a sticky-

Just list the name, where the road starts and where it ends, and a little description-

Route 4: Starts in Colts Neck and goes through Holmdel. Maybe about 6-8 miles long. Very smooth and swoopy, much more performance-driving than scenic-

Canal Road: Starts near Kingston, runs along the Raritan Canal and ends at Blackswells Mills. About 7-8 miles long. Claustrophobic and scary, since a stupid mistake might put you into the guardrail, which is a few feet from the canal. Ripply too; probably better suited for a slow cruise than trying to set any land speed records.

River Drive: Starts right off 676 near Philadelphia, runs south along the Schuykill then ends in central Philly. 2 lanes each way, then goes down to 1 in each direction. Usually too crowded to get up any speed, but the scenery is great, since most of the buildings on the river look Roman, and Philadelphia's skyline is ahead of you.

Ocean Parkway here on Long Island.. Nothing better then coming up on if from the meadowbrook parkway, and running the whole thing down to the Robert Mosses, take that up hit the Southern state parkway which takes you back to the Meadowbrook and do it all over again... one big loop
Round trip about 1 hour, but some good driving. The Ocean Parkway does need some repaving but nothing beats driving the strip along the water on a nice spring day, plus its empty at night and you can really get her going

Glendora Mountain Rd. - From Glendora up to MT. Baldy, CA. Well maintaned, uncrowded and great views.

I like it especially for the curves (tight, wide, bankling, non-banking, blind, etc). A real good workout.

The palisades parkway is amazing- you hop on right by the GW Bridge.

Also I like 287 for some reason....

Have to put a vote in for Hwy 129-Deal's Gap,NC Tail Of The Dragon! Also 129 or 19 South from the Dragon to Atlanta is some pretty good driving.

I agree, but I'm confused by how you describe it

If you referring to West River Drive, it starts at Falls Bridge and ends at the Art Museum (Leading edge of Center City). A few traffic lights, yet still a nice pleasent drive (I usually take it from Center City to City Ave where I get on the schuylkill expressway.

The other one is Kelly Drive, which is "east" river drive I guess. This is 4 lanes, and runs along the east bank over the river (duh!) Another nice one, again a few traffic lights.

Agreed, the pig trail is great. There are lots of great driving roads west of Austin also.

Where do you live in NWA? I am from Fayetteville, but live in Dallas now. I thought I would be the only Z on the road when I go home, guess not . When I was there in November there were no Z's to be found....

Sorry, I think I was referring to West River Drive. I picked it up by accident when I got off of 676 because of traffic. I wasn't aware there was a road going by the east side of the river-

We are in Fayetteville. Been here 3 years. Lived in Hot Springs for 20 years before here.

There are 10 or so 350's up here now.
