So what do your girlfriends/wives think about modding?
I had 3 cars last year.. integra (DD POS), 350z and EVO IX MR
comments by my Gf about my cars:
"I dont like the sound of the Exhaust" - for the Integra
"Your subs give me headache" - commenting on the 3 JL audio W6V2 on my 350z
"I hate that car" - Evolution IX MR
I really gave up, so i dont care what she thinks

My girlfriend just helped me get my new 2007 z for my early graduation gift.
She's always loved cars and enjoys modding them as much as me. She keeps telling me how much fun it would be to get the Z TT'd when its out.
Lol she's so much fun, love her to death.

The only time the wife says anything is when I spend more time with the car(s) than I do with her. I try to even it out. Dinner, work on car a bit, then a movie or walk with the wife during the week days. Then I only take three or four weekend days on the car / car club events.
She knows how important it is to me. We look at it like she has her hobbies / show she likes and I have my hobbies and things I like to do. It works out well for us.
The main thing is we do nice things for each other all the time. I know it sounds sappy but, it is well worth it when it comes time to buy parts. ;-)

heh, my gf is totally against anything I do with the car, including the car itself...she thinks it's a total waste of money (which is true to some extent). She flips out everytime I get something for my car
It's all good though, she keeps me grounded I suppose.

Well, I am a wife. My first car was a manual (piece of crap but manual, and i still have it). I love driving and love to drive the z. My husband isnt too crazy bout it, but he cant complain considering i knew how to drive it before he did.
Anyways, as far as mods, i'm all for them, as long as we have the money. I am NOT into all the jewelry and stuff from tiffany's. If a girl demands that stuff, i say let her go. jmo. I dont like really expensive things for myself. And I really want us to go FI.
My only complaint is he has the Z to drive to work everyday, and I have a 5 speed 94 mazda 626, which is a piece. I bought it in highschool, off of my measly job. I just want my husband to help me get a nicer vehicle thats safer and more reliable. Cause i dont wanna break down in the town we live in. To some that may seem like a lot to ask, but my safety should come before putting mods on the sports car. And after that, whatever we want for the sports car.
I love to help put the mods on the car. Even though we have only worked on a few simple mods. I bought him a popcharger and plenum spacer for christmas, and test pipes for his b-day, and we just put an engine dampener on two weeks ago.
But i guess none of that really matters right now, cause we hydroplaned and wrecked the z this past weekend. But hopefully it will get fixed soon. Not sure if its totalled yet or not.

In my opinion, both people work and both people earn money. Therefore, mutual bills should get addressed first, and then what ever both people have left over can be spent as they see fit. The girls can then go out shopping and buying clothes and the guys will be able to go out and buy car parts. Tis the 21st century with equality being stressed left and right, so why do you have to get your girl a gift every month? That's what special occasions are for. Times like birthdays, anniversaries, and so on are perfect for gift giving and aside from small surprises like flowers at work, things should be kept to that schedule. Be careful, if you buy her rings and earrings every month she will get used to it and it won't be special any more. Even worse it might start to be expected after a while.
in my situation, what i expect out of a relationship is that our bills such as mortage, utilities, investments , retirement are covered by our combined income and what each person has left over is their "fun money" In this day and age is that too much to ask? Bottom line, unless you are spending her money for mods you shouldn't have to ask.

no boyfriends to worry about but i do have to face the wrath of my mother every time i come back home with oem parts to store in the garage...
Well considering she got me my 06 tails as as surprise bday gift yesterday I'd say she's down, plus she was all about me getting the stealthbox.
Since I just got em too and am excited am gunna just boast how absolutely dope the 06 tails look as compared to the old ones. and what an easy install, plug and play for sure with a little electrical tape to be safe.
