Default Wow so its gonna be a little easier paying for my z

Alright so im 18 and I joined the Army. After going though my contract I found out that my bonus for signing up is.... get ready for this..... 15k!!!! Yup thats right 15k for a sign up bonus. Its gonna make getting the z sooo much more easier on my payments. Im really happy right now. Oh and my job is Aviation Operations Specialist(15p). I am quite excited right now. This is the car that I wanted since the VERY FIRST TIME I SAW IT ON CAR AND DRIVER TV back in 2002.

congrats on the enlistment. Just so you know you will get half that amount after training and the rest is broken down in to yearly increments for the length of the enlistment, plus they do tax it. make sure you check insurance prices before buying. I recommend USAA, they deal mainly with military people and generally have lower rates. Good luck with the purchase!

Don't you have a lump sum option? Oh that's the lottery, nevermind. GL.

Do you know where your going to be stationed yet , insurance varies from place to place. Second do you really know how much your going to make a paycheck (probably about $450) I see way to many of my Airman broke as hell cause of a car.

Congrats on your enlistment, from a former U.S. Army 11B2V. Thank you for serving our country!

Be careful getting the Z while you are enlisted though, I would save it for when you ETS as a gift to yourself. This is of course JMHO.

Thanks for your service.

Hopefully you don't have to go fight a worthless war like my little bro has.....twice. Made it back and was awarded the Purple Heart, but all for what?

Recent news is that the Iraqi government has failed to meet ALL goals set by the USA. What a cluster F*ck.

All of little bro's friends blew everything they had anticipating not coming back. I know Marines is diff than Army, but still. I think with your field, you'll be ok.

I'd say save the cash, go to school and buy a GTR when you're 25-30.

Your enlistment bonus all depends on the type of MOS you have.

Thanks for serving. Definately sit on that money wait until you are done, even you're inactive duty time because who knows when you will be called up. then you could be away for 6 months while a car you are paying X amount each month sits in a drive way. not worth it. if you have to do 4 years active, 4 inactive id say earn interest on the money you're making month to month as well as your bonus and DONT buy a new car. what's the point when you wont be home to enjoy it except for a few months a year?

just my opinion

Thank you for serving our country... good luck in the future!

I must say...
1300?!?!? a month?
1000 after taxes... 24,000 a year?

Am I the only one who gets pissed off when I see these numbers for a person who is willing to risk their life for our country? Especially when I see the government spend 19 Million dollars on a toilet in space?
The cost of life (per year) to our government!
I realize he's young, and he enlisted rather than going through school and then entering to become an officer, but isn't he being taken advantage of?

Just curious...

Check your math, mate: that is less than SIXTEEN K per year.

You gotta think though... free healthcare, free housing, free food, etc. It all works out in the end (even though we don't join for the money) It does **** some off though that actors who don't risk a thing get millions of dollars compared to the military or police etc. that don't get paid enough to compensate for putting their lives on the line.

OP, welcome to the Army (of course, that's based on if/when you get though Basic and AIT, which really ain't hard). Do you know if you're getting lump sum or increment payments of your bonus? My guess would be increments since you have to pass basic before you get it. After that, you'll get lump sums. Expect to see less than $10k from that bonus. My advice, wait 'till you're at LEAST a PFC before stepping into a Z. If not, be prepared to not do ANYTHING with your life making more money since E-1/E-2 don't get paid for ****. Maybe wait 'till after your first deplyment.

Now beat your face until I get tired Private.
