Why do you guys asume the driver didnt care that he killed the guy?? It could happen to anyone of us.. I dont street race but just driving a little fast you could lose controle and hit somebody. Im sure its pretty hard on the kid knowing he killed someone. And Im sure its hard on the guy who was killeds family too.

In the original WFLA TV news story "Westchase Moped Accident" the female reporter said "two teenagers were playing a dangerous game of cat and mouse..." When I heard the story I assumed she was saying that two DRIVERS were playing cat and mouse, so I guess I assumed a race. After watching the story again, I guess what she meant was that a driver and passenger were 'playing cat and mouse' with other traffic.

And the story closes with the anchor saying, 'witnesses saw several cars speeding along...'

I guess I thought it was a race when they said 'several cars speeding,' and I'm not sure how the passenger was "playing" cat and mouse, but I guess there wasn't necessarily a race after all. Just a driver (maybe a few) threading traffic. - I stand corrected.

Either way, it's pretty sad for everyone involved...

yeah you're right, it can happen to anyone of us when we're RACING, SPEEDING, DRIVING WRECKLESSLY, you're absolutely right. I don't know if you saw the pictures close enough, but this kid went thru an island of trees, across the incoming traffic lane, sidewalk then thru the guy, into the lake.... that involves a lot of force i.e. speed. I don't know i guess some are not inteligent enough to think before you step on the gas. HE JUST LEARNED THE HARD WAY TO "THINK"...and judging by this quotation.....we have others who have yet to learn to "think" also

The little rich b!tch won't care that he killed the kid. Hopefully the dead boy has an older brother or a father with anger issues and gets some street justice. If you run over one of mine don't worry about fixing your car or the civil law suit ... worry about me.

The law doesn't extract justice anymore so sometimes men with honor and courage have to take matters into their own hands.

that is true!

maybe this guy is for hire?

he may not have bee racing, perhaps just speeding. but it is pretty hard to lose control of a car (that had TCS i am sure) when you are driving responsibly and just following the flow of traffic.

i am sure he is going to have a hard time dealing with this his entire life but the fact of the matter is, you give a fast car to a young person (especially a male) and you are asking for trouble. he was speeding, he shouldn't have. lesson learned, too bad it cost someone else their life.

for those who imply that it can happen in any car, this is true. but the car was a sports car. in this day and age, you don't get your kid who has no driving experience a fast car, period. you don't get them a Civic either. be a parent, look at the trends out there in street racing and do some research. get the kid something dumb like a Chevy Aveo, last time i looked there isn't much aftermarket support for them, so the kid wouldn't even have any thoughts of being F&F.

^ I agree, I wouldn't give a 16yo kid a sports car, and from what i remember from High School, lots of people who had nice cars liked to show off.

Let’s be honest here. You have a 16 year old kid driving a car that is way too much machine for his driving experience. Killing someone in an area that has a well known and documented road racing problem. Loosing control of a car that has one of the best traction control systems available in a modern automobile. Then flying across a wide median, a couple lanes of on coming traffic and ending up in a pond.

I could be wrong, but I believe the speed limit on that stretch of road is 45mph. Now c’mon, to go through all that you would have to be going a lot faster than 45.

Theory of deduction for those who do not subscribe to being PC; of course he was hauling a$$ and/or road racing. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...

I feel bad for the dead guy and his family, but did anyone else kinda chuckle when they read the thread title for the first time?

How could you be racing a Z in a road so narrow like that one? I feel sorry for everybody and for the Z (I am in love with those cars), especialy for the dead guy's family. Zs are ment to be raced on the track, not on the streets.

Still waiting for response from those who think 50-yr-olds need to be tested.

It didnt say anything about STREET RACING. The cops are very good at determining the speed of the car by tire marks, distance the car travled, ect. They clearly said no charges have been brought up on Jonny. The cops would have put him in cuffs as soon as they got there if he was STREET RACING. 45 mph is not slow. Think about this.. your 16 loose control of your 30k car (maybe even your dads to put alittle more fear into you), since your scared $hitless you dont even think to put on the brakes all you can think of is CRAP this is a convirtable and we are going to die..Your 16 you dont have years of driving exp. you dont know what to do, its all happening SO FAST. Just stop and think about it before you try and linch the kid by the *****..$hit happens sometimes it's bad and sometimes its REAL bad.. I hate it when ever a kid gets into a wreck they were always STREET RACING..

Also...

i street race all the time im not a kid im almost 30, when i do it i make sure its in a commercial area without any other cross streets..ya i can loose control of my car and crash, or hit someone on the side of the road maybe even crash into the other car im racing but DAMN people know what can happen when there there, but they still go.. yep your right on the drag strip the only person I can kill is myself. People die all the time.. Cry me a river! Then build a bridge and get OVER it! You can flame me, hate me, boot me, or even Delete me from your myspace, I dont give a crap its just the way i feel about it..

I feel bad for the Z and thats it!

"Johnny and Trevor are really responsible," he said. "They didn't do it on purpose. They're good kids."
