I wanted to be safe and protect myself, so I used Paypal.
That was a waste in this case.
I also put a not that the seller will agree to refund me if the sides are nor PERFECT fit.
That was useless too.

I just read the whole thread. I feel for you sunsetsunrise. I personally sell a lot of stuff online and also buy a lot of stuff online. This is what I do to ALL the orders I purchase online from people I do not know.
1. Make sure you have the person's FULL NAME and ADDRESS.
2. Make sure you keep all the information from the first e-mail sent to the final e-mail transaction.
3. When the item arrives, always, ALWAYS open the item in front of the UPS or Fedex carrier (assuming ups delivered it, they will always ask for signature).
4. I never do deals with paypal UNLESS it's through ebay. They insure it for $2000 and I've always got my money back from scammers.
5. Pay for Shipping Insurance. It is only a few bucks more for like a few hundered for insurance.
6. If the wrong item is received, e-mail that person asap and let him know. If he does not respond within 5 days, try to contact your Credit Card company. They sometimes can do wonders if you let them know soon enough. (Make sure you tell them it is a scam.)
7. Try to get written statements saying that, "Yes, he will refund you. Sign here." That has always worked to my advantange if the person lies at the end.
I've cut down a lot by doing this. The credit card company usually works to my advantage. But you will have to let them know asap so they are able to reverse the transaction and you provide enough proof that it was a scam.
Other than that, Good luck.
P.s. Always try to go through a legit auction or a website that offer BUYER PROTECTION. That always comes in handy.
