It's all relative. Your RSX isn't stock, so out with that ricer argument. Any car can be made to go fast. Stock for stock, the RSX is a turd compared to either MT or AT 350Z.

You def dont have a stock type S or even lightlt modded. Because my boys are RSX heads and it took them quiet some time and alot of purchaces with hondata and toda cams to be able to even compete with my 04 Z. There great cars for a startup modder , but a stock type s is no match for any Z ,, not even a 300ZX lmao

in the end , i remember them having to apply chassis bracing in order to keep up with teh rwd cars on high speed corners at pocono. However the race spec TSX that this groupe that was running in the konig series was murdering almost anything . Then again with a 2200 race weight you should be smoking cars that are 3000lbs more lmao.

Yea ricer talk shouldnt fly in this thread please dont we all know how the rsx has the new quantum slip stream K20 motor.

Its ALL about drive train loss. Someone else mentioned it prior. Dont put this into stone but I believe read somewhere the auto Z has between a 6% and 10% power loss through the tranny. And from my understanding thats pretty normal. I also read the auto is soooo good in the Z the average driver will probably not notice the difference. However, its a sports car dude!! You'll just have more fun with a stick shift!!!

+1
its a sports car
if u want to get every bit out of the car go for the manual
but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the auto either
like its been said before, the auto Z is great
i myself have an auto and have absolutely no complaints with its speed
and the 5speed stick in the auto isnt bad
i use it a lot
just depends on what u want to do with your z

i agree with this.
i was in the same situation when i was buying my gto. i found several that would "work" but none that really hit me with the "this is the one" feeling. so i held out for about another month, and BAM! there she was! fell in love and had her later that week. so i say, whatever you know you'll be most happy with, I'd wait for it. because in the long run, you don't want to waste the time and money on a car you're not completely happy with. that being said, if you have your heart set on the manual z, I'd wait until one comes along. you're right about the price points being extremely affordable now, so i'm sure one will come along. just be patient.

I just have 5/16 spacer,exhaust. Ran a 14.0 @101.2 with a crappy 2.3 60ft. I think its decently fast. My friend with a 06 base Z 6spd revup motor with test pipes,exhaust,filter delete trapped 103 only 2mph difference in the 1/4.

Personally, I don't think AUTO Z's are considered Fast.
auto z is considered slow imo and a 6spd is not considered fast. I have a rsx-s for daily duty and I'd smoke a stock auto z in it.
Don't Bogart dudes... pass it on over to me.

Wow -- all this talk about how fast a 5AT is, and not a single time slip posted??? But we did get one e-*****, so I guess that makes up for it.

Default final drive

Long **** thread with a lot of smack
but is the final drive in the AT 3.5 while the MT is 3.7, no real hp difference but the mt will be quicker off the line with a good driver of course

and no more mentioning quick stock RSX-s they do not exist

Always new the 04 base was one of the fastest stock Z's

there does not seem to be any real side by side comparison of auto and 6spd year and edition.

I've seen a few Z's locally for sale, but they are automatics and I wanted to know just how much slower the automatic versions are compared to the 6SPD ones. I think at the end of the day I would be more happy with an auto Z, than a manual RSX-S, Si, tC, etc, just trying to convince myself of that, because they're not many manual Z's in my area so the pickings are slim. Give me some feedback. Thanks.
I would say the auto would be the fastest by far for most people?
Since 7-10 people only think they know how to drive a manual.

Wow, all this time you've been posting on this forum and you can't even venture over to the drag forum?

Interesting story that happened today...I was getting the exhaust done at my shop today. I was talking to a Maxima guy with a 2002 6spd who just so happened to post on my forum. I told him about my Z and openly brought up that I had a 5AT. He was a little curious about why I'd do that, I explained my reasons, etc. I told him how fantastic the transmission was also and that he's more than welcome to hit shotgun once the exhaust was done and I'll show him.

Well, by the time I was done his exact words, verbatim, where "Holy sh*t this thing shifts fast! And all of that torque. Damn, it's so impressive." Haha, and I had the TCS on. He is considering retrofitting a Z intake manifold - and I told him to check out this forum, so perhaps he'll chime in if he sees this thread.

I currently own a TC (wife's car) and a Auto 03 Z. (bought it only because it was 3-6K cheaper than all the others for sale, and had about 40k less miles, and I knew the P.O.) (I'm a standard transmission guy, but this is a great Automatic.)

there is no comparison for performance....the Auto Z runs away from the TC. I can hang with LS1's, beat Sti's in my auto Z.

If you want a sportscar get the Z....all those other cars u listed are FWD, and, well, not sportscars. Its truly that simple.

None of the cars listed are considered fast in my book. Including a stock Z (auto or manual)

truthfully an automatic will take off faster than a stick and there's no down time in clutching cause it's automatic clutching. .so there's no real power loss due to clutching and shifting that there is in a manual. .but if a manual man can drive to perfection not missing a beat on each shift. .the cars should be least head to head then due to the final gearing Sticks gonna pull away also due to the ability to red line with out computer control as the auto has. ..

BUT. .i could be wrong. .
