It's funny you should mention Autocross. Because the national B-stock champion, Jason Isley thinks the only thing holding back the Z in the stock class is.... the drivers in th Z's. I think he also said more camber on the Z would put it ahead of the 8 too. IIRC
You weighing your own car has way to many unknowns for a fair comparison. Would you not agree that a comparison by a nationally respect consumer organization would have a better point of view. In short it would seem that what ever you are coming up with a similar prepare RX would be 300 lbs lighter.

Yet the RX-8 still dominates autocross, people will gravatate to what works best. Facts will always speak louder then one's opinions.

Many of us have weighed our Zs and have gotten identical numbers. There are no variable unknowns. Full tank of gas, topped fluids, in full trim. That's it.

Now if I was to tell you that the RX was 2800lbs and that I weight it and so have others, who you have no knowledge of, and you noticed a list of modification done to my car in my tag line (unknown variables) and your holding printed weight specification from the manufacture and a well respected independent source that contradicts what I am telling you. You would still be good with what I claim?

"cumstang" i'm going to use that, can't this thread just get locked already, everybody's just going in circles, much like the 350z vs. s2k threads.

Yea, and Mazda never released incorrect info **cough**250 hp**cough**

And Chevy's ratings on the LS1 motor were actually lower than most were being dyno'd at.

Yes, if someone took their stock Z and had it weighed on a certified scale, I'd believe it.

You don't understand. I weighed my car bone stock. Three weeks after I bought it. Not as much as a popcharger on it. Today, my car weighs a good deal less than 3200lbs. But bone stock, a bunch of us all across the country weighed our Touring Zs and got the same numbers despite using different weight stations. It even says so on our cars official documentation. How are you going to argue with THREE concrete pieces of proof?

There are no variables involved here - just consistency.

Unknowns? The brochre, that came with my 05 350Z Base model, lists the curb weight at 3,188lbs. That is topped off with all fluids, incuding gas.

Indeed. Yet, for some reason, the Z isn't allowed to follow the 8 to the STU class. And the national champ, that drives an 8, thinks the Z will run over the 8 if it is given the same allowances (camber adjustments) as the 8.

i prefer the 350z over any car since the car is clearly very good in hp, and has such a good look to it already so why change it lol

Test drove one already. Disappointment in acceleration. But then again we are spoiled with the Z so needless to say, I am biased. Haha.

I was really disappointed that my friend bought a RX-8 after I repeatedly told him to get a much faster car (350z). Now he complains how V6 camrys overtake him on the freeway and he can't catch up.

I test drove an RX8 anniversarry before I got my car. It felt way slower than the Z. Probably I wasn't driving it hard enough, I have heard that you really need to rev hard with the rx8 to get any decent acceleration from it.

I have an 08 Z. I wanted to be young dumb and irresponsible at least once in my life. So every time I think "Maybe I should have gotten an S2000/RX8/97 M3 sedan/Fit/Evo/Sti/S4/A3/3-series/Something Else" I roll into the throttle, kick the rear out around a turn and remember why I didn't get any of the other cars above.

If RX8s consistently got observed gas mileage more like the S2000's, I may have become an rx8 owner instead.

Seriously though, I'm thinking about building a K20-swap Fit after college. They're cool little cars.

Because they're cheap, handle well, and look great once you cram 16x8 +25 offset rims on them.

They are cool cars but all those other cars you listed are RWD or AWD, then you have a FWD car... just kinda weird.
