First 350z
Hello all, I've been looking for a 350z for almost a year now. I've been waiting for 'the one' since I am very picky about cars.
My question is, I'm going to purchase a 2003 Touring Model with 11k original miles. What are the common problems with this model and what should I look for when I test drive it? Should I take it to a dealership and have them look at anything?
I've read about the tranny and tire feathering problems. Will Nissan fix the tire feathering problems if my vehicle is out of warranty? I read somewhere on here that the tranny is now covered under 5 years, could someone please give me a link?
Thanks!

The drivetrain warranty (covering tranny) is 5 years, 60K miles. You're probably close to being out of warranty on time. Don't sweat it, with that low mileage, chances are you won't see a problem if it hasn't already.
The tire feathering problem won't be covered. Hopefully, the original owner got it taken care of if he was affected. All you have to do is get your front end aligned regularly and you'll be fine.
Congrats on finding such a low mileage car.

Thanks! I'm 27 and when I was a kid I always wanted a 300zx but couldn't afford it. When the 350z came out I instantly fell in love, but again it was bad timing. I sold my drag bike and decided now is the time to own the car I've always wanted. It just took awhile to find the particular model/color combination I wanted. Putting the wife through more school to get her masters I'm not going to have alot of money to mod the car. It's okay tho, my modding days are kind of over. I'll probably do 3 things to it. Wheels, coilovers, and the carbon fiber dash overlays. I'm sure plenty of people have said that, but its a addiction!

Well, back to the searching. I didn't buy the car. I asked the owner if there was anything wrong with it and he said no. Only having 10k miles I didn't think there could be much cosmetically wrong with it, but I was fooled. There was several deep scratches. One was about a foot long. The front bumper had a huge web crack that was about a foot or so. There was a couple other deep scratches only about inch or so on the car. When I say deep, the plastic was rough on the scratch, kind of hard to explain.
