What is the best shifting car that you have driven?
What is the best shifting car that you have driven? There is a lot of talk about the 350Z transmission being nochty and clucht too heavy or set too high. Until you get use to it these traits will throw you off, after a while it's just instinct and can be done without thinking. Acutally even early on only 1st gear and getting started was ever a problem, otherwise the short stroke of the Z is sweet but not the best.
What are the best shifting cars that you have driven? I'd answer that with 2003 Honda Prelude, 1995- 2000 Toyota Supra, 1995 300zx, 1987 300Zx, 1980 280ZX, 1994 Porsche 944, 911, 924, 2005/2008 Rx-8 and 2006 Honda S2000. Smooth operators compared to my nochty 350Z.
What was the smoothest you've shifted?

My old 1988 Volvo 240DL, auto. i think it only had 2 gears, so it was a smooth operator.
On a more serious note, the Z is the first manual i ever bought, and i agree, its a little rough around the edges. However, when i test drove the rsx type-S, i thought that was a lot easier

Ever driven one of the Mitsubushi 3000Gts damn talk about terrible rubber feeling MT and whimpy exhaust note. I have give it prop on 0-60 time and 1/4 runs too bad that the less dramatic and ricey Evo sales closed down the 3000Gt nice looking car.
Evo sales don't seem to bother 350Z sales because they are just too different in what A DRIVER WANTS style, grace, handling, track if u want and power vs. Awd,Turbo power and Track ability on the streets but ricey as hell. How does a Evo shift? Never wanted to drive one bc they look so ricey.

I was going to say my 1995 3000gt after I replaced the shifter base/linkage bushings from the stock rubber ones to machined aluminum ones.
Other then that, I really love the way the 350z shifts....it's noisey, but very smooth at the shifter.

I bet!! I drove a 328-330 series BMW nice these were new and still were as smooth as glass. I bet a older e36 was extra smooth, BMW's known to have great trannys.
