Wooooo there cowboy! I am not too sure of that. Even if it may be true in Florida, it is clearly not true for all states. I will tell you this, I know for a fact that the coverage is different in California and those items would not be covered.
Again, the rules differ from State to State...even within the same Company.

all i have to do is keep pictures and receipts.

The time to clear up coverage for anything is before the loss occurs.

After shopping around Geico was the cheapest for me... like $964 for 6 months (about 150-160 a month). I am 24 now, it's supposed to drop when I turn 25. That's with $500 deductibles, and basic coverage, and one accident at fault on record.
It would be even more if I lived in Orlando... technically I live in Oviedo, right over the city/county line .

it will drop a lot when that accident is gone. again when you are 25.. but remember it only drops at time of renewal, not at the 3 year mark after the accident or the day you turn 25..
not a terrible idea to shop around again when the accident is at the 3 year mark and no longer on your record - rather then pay out the rest of your overpriced term.

350Z Insurance
Thanks for the responses so far...
I am not eligible for USAA since I am not, nor is anyone in my family military or ex-military. Too bad since that looks like the best option.
So far I've learned that I'm facing a tough challenge since I have a 350Z and a 19yr old son with 3 speeding tickets. He cannot drive the Z but it can't be isolated due to insurance regulations here in Maryland.
I've checked into a lot of quotes and so far Geico has the closest quote beat by $65/mo. I am still waiting for a quote from AAA.
The data that is used to calculate insurance rates on various car models is available online at IIHS.Org. You can get PDFs with the data for various model years at http://www.iihs.org/research/hldi/composite_intro.html.
The 350Z doesn't rate very well presumably due to it being in the high-performance classification and, by extension, being involved in a lot of speed related crashes. The only sports car that is rated highly is the BMW Z-4 and that's not exactly in the same category.
I'll be back with additional info if I find something interesting.

Don't just shop on price, make sure you are adequately protecting yourself in the unlikely event you hurt someone or yourself (or a passenger). If you own a house, don't get something like a 50/100/50 policy that won't pay for anyones hospital bills if you should happen to even cause them pretty minor injuries. Make sure you are adequately covered for any damage you may cause (250/500/250 if you own a house at a minimum) and then throw an umbrella on top of it. Independent agents are good, but often try to sell on price since that is why they are independent usually, they like not working too hard and selling the cheapest price from their stable of companies. Shop them, and see what kind of liability advice they offer VS a captive agent like State Farm, Farmers, etc.
The key is to protect yourself in the event you cause some damage to someone and then to get a decent price.

I'm 19. Insurance is $190/month. Before I had a Jetta 2 accidents one of them was my fault and 3 speeding tickets, but i hired an attorney for all three and my insurance still high...

This tread will get locked if you guys keep talking about cost. Sounds like the guy whos started this thread wanted to know what everyone thought of there insurance provider not cost.
I am not going to get into what I pay, but when I insured my Z they did not classifie it as a "high performance" car. I have Farmers insurance and have had the same agent since I was 18 so he gets me the best rates.
He said that they base the cost on weight to horsepower. The Z came under as a performance car not High performance.

I'm 26 and married. Farmers was the cheapest for me and it was still bad.
I have no tickets or points, but I did have an accident. I was by myself and lost control on a patch of ice on the freeway. It was a ridiculous day because the tow truck couldn't reach me because there were 3 or 4 more accidents behind me. He had to go the wrong way down the freeway with a police cruiser in front of him and then come back to me.
Anyways, the bill for repairs was just over $16K. It wasn't totaled, but it must have been close. Now I pay a 6 month lump sum of almost $700. Even though my car is listed as recreational because I only drive it about 5k miles a year since I'm a writer and I work from home.
That's with a $500 deductible and the minimum on pretty much everything. Insurance companies have by ***** in a tight grip.
