I am just curious why no one here consider Mitsubishi EVO 7 or 8 as it is faster and cheaper.

Enlighten me please.
Because I test drove the EVO and then i drove the 350z....that's why!

Why, why, why...

I'm an instructor and always tell my students there is no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid answer.
But your question is stupid!!!

Why do you wear the clothes you wear...
Why are you married to that woman, or date that girl...
Why do you live in that house...
Why do you drink that brand of beer...
Why do eat the food you eat..
Why, why, why...

So why do I buy a 350Z, beacause that is my decision and I like it!!!

Ignorant drivers pull up beside them and point and laugh here. Pure speed isn't enough, I have to drive a elegant car. I have a 350Z with a dark metallic red called Brickyard with nice Frost leather and you can drive the car FAST normally w/o puting your foot to the floor constantly. Hot sedans that are on the boost or have 0 torque when they aren't won't get my dollar ever, aesthetics are more important to me than raw power. I'm not dissing them, they just have no appeal for me.

I found this just for you.

EVO 8 turbo upgrade kit.

Price is under $2500. The kit can produce 650 WHP. Now the stock block is only capable of about 500 WHP, but if my math is correct, 500 > 360.

Oops, guess I was unclear. The block it self should be ok up to 500 horses on stock internals. But just so we don't "grenade" the block, we'll turn the boost down to 400 WHP for daily driving.

Say it with me. "400 WHP for $2500"

And for 2500 bones you could buy 2.

The company who has this turbo in development is amazing, so how much power would a 3.5L V-6 have if they created a turbo for it?

Theres a saying that pretty much sums up the '$6,000 in a Z.. $6,000 in an EVo.. Who's Faster?' question.. 'Theres No Replacement, For Displacement'

Along w/ my Z I also own a Camaro I've dumped thousands into, and let me tell you, there is NO replacment for V8 grunt down low. I use to smoke all sorts of 4 bangers daily. Honda S2000? Owned. Why? No torque. Why do you think that people put tons of money into these 4 Cyl. cars and get 400 HP but only 200lb.ft? Not enough displacement to get the job done. A V6 is a good median in the world of Gas Mileage and Grunt. I can't stand the 4 cyl arguement.. its the same as the old chevy arguement, 305 -vs- 350.. Say it with me people...

Class: Theres Nooo Replaaacemmeeent.. for Dissssplaaacemeeeent

Very Good! Now back to our regularly schedualed program.

Oh.. and the EVO is so fugly, 4 doors? F14 Wing? Grand Canyon facsia? Over the '350 Porsche'? No Contest. LoL I Drive by places and people POINT and STARE.. Never will you get that in an EVO unless its because your fart can is polluting the atmosphere and their pointing is followed by.. 'What The **** Was That STupid Thing?' But then again.. I'm biased. lol

I'm not exactly sure why you're quoting me.
But he said a turbocharged 4 banger = kabloom and I just mentioned the SR20DET, which is known for handling well over 500 WHP, close to 600.

What I meant when I said.. 'Theres a saying that pretty much sums up the '$6,000 in a Z.. $6,000 in an EVo.. Who's Faster?' question.. 'Theres No Replacement, For Displacement' ..I meant that if you take both engines.. do the same things do them so their identical except for the fact that one is a 4cyl and one is a 6cyl.. the 6 will be faster due to its higher displacement. More cubic inchs = more grunt down low. Granted the EVO can be very fast, its mostly due to its AWD. You have 100% traction or pretty damn close on every launch. Thats what makes them such dangerous stop-light racers cause any other non AWD car has to worry about hooking up and use some sort of technique to give the car the most pedal w/out breaking the tires free. In my opinion.. AWD is like Mike Vick in Madden 2004... Cheating. LoL

I agree. However, EVO is not a car born for drag racing. Its capability is more focused in corning. Its rally heritage proves it. Yes, it launches like a slingshot and great drager, but EVO's merit is more on its incredible cornering capability with its AWD system.

Ok, if were talking about two engines, both being naturally aspirated from the factory the V6 has the obvious advantage. That I have never disagreed with. That is not the case here. The Evo is factory turbocharged. That is a huge advantage when it comes to modification. My earlier example was a turbo upgrade kit that can push the Evo to 650 WHP, 500 safely on stock internals at a cost of $2500. To my knowledge I know of nothing you can get for $6k for the Z that will net you even 400 horses. With a budget of $10k you could slap a turbo on the Z and lower the compression with some nice forged internals. That still wouldn't include the cost of the decent fuel management that doesn't even exist at this point. Maybe another $2k for that. Grand total, $12k. But you should be laying down more power than the Evo at that point.

I've personally owned a Mitsubishi and it wasn't so wonderfully reliable. I wouldn't have minded that if Mitsubishi took care of their customers, but they don't. I'll never buy another Mitsubishi again.
My thoughts exactly!!! ANYONE who has owned a Mitsubushi knows how good they are mecanically and that is NOT!! What a piece of cr*p!

The autobox died on ours at 20000 - when we took it in the guy said we were in the majority of owners whose gearboxes had died. It went on from there - never a reliable moment.

So original poster - I would rather poke pins in my eyes than own anything made by Mitsubushi.
