double clutching will do it.

as I said in another thread, 3 peices, the gears in the middle are not spinning fast enough to match the 1st gear up to the drive shaft. so if you go to nuetral, let the clutch out, rev it, put clutch in, hopefully the gears will then be going fast enough to match up without too much work from the synchros.

this should only be done in dire situations where you MUST have power now. otherwise second should be fine.

I am very new to all this double clutching etc. You are basically saying that you have to let the clutch out before you rev, and then put it back in and go. Is it bad to keep the clutch in, put in neutral, rev, downshift and go? I swore I saw it like that on a videotape of a pro. Then again I could be wrong.

Get the "Bullitt" DVD Steve McQueen double clutches his Mustang through the whole chase scene, I'm not sure why because those cars had synchros too but he does it.

turn the wheel to the direction of the upcoming turn, release brake when at the desired angle, rev to 6grand release clutch. perfect 90degree turn.

Double-clutching, however, will slow you down in a real race. It's much quicker to single-clutch. In fact, if you are a perfect rev matcher you don't have to use the clutch at all.

Back to the first-gear synchro thing. Even if you could double-clutch them up to speed, I still think it's going to be very hard on them. They are geared really low so they are going to spin at a very high RPM if you engage them at too high a speed. They aren't made to spin that fast. No matter how you do it, it won't be good for them.
