shoud i trade in z for gtr
why don't you just keep the Z as a daily driver and buy the GTR as the garage queen.
I plan on keeping my Z as my daily for a long time, and then one day I will buy a nice garage queen.

i personally have not driven one. the dealership hasn't made one sale on one yet either.
I'm just saying your basic analogy that since it has a transmission, wheels, etc that it's pretty much the same thing. it's a completely different car. That's like saying a camaro is the same as a corvette. Not even close.
also, i think most people are forgetting that the zo6 wasn't what kept up with the GT-R on the track....the ZR-1 did. To compare the same class that would put the vette zr-1 quite a bit more money than the gt-r.

dimitri, after turbo-ing my car, I wish I had saved up for as GTR instead. Looks at members here like bambam, 4.2 stroker, built as built can be, to paraphrase him, the GTR is what people were always trying to get to by building their Z. Building a Z is a looong, adruous process, you can get a GTR tomorrow and beat all but built Z's. You will need about 30-40G's into your Z to properly get it up to GTR level and make it semi-reliable. I'm 20k deep (not including everthing non-engine related) without a built block, the next power level increase requires too many more parts for my budget right now!!!!
Get the GTR, it will get you a LOT of attention too

what im trying to say is when u look at my Z and u look the gtr these cars are not that different in construction other then the motor the brakes, the suspension, the yaw sensors, the wheels and tires, the turbos, the two extra seats, the launch control, the paddle shifters, and the trans...so when u think it over 84 k dollars vs what i paid for my z in 2004 which was 34k .. its over priced when compared to cars like M3/m5 ...i hope this makes sense.

In all seriousness, it seems the GT-R would better suit you given the other toys you have in the garage. You are almost ready to retire and are financially stable (apparently). You could still be smart about it and buy a used one and save yourself $25k. Sell your track Z to someone on the forum rather than give it away as a trade-in to your Nissan contact. If I had the scratch, I'd do both deals privately, which would put your total savings around $30k. Just don't get another white car (IMHO)!

The GT-R is not overpriced, it's way underpriced. The GT-R is a real SUPERCAR, most cars in its class go for $200,000.
The Z06 isn't even in the same league as the GT-R.....the ZR1 is. The reason the GT-R is so incredibly groundbreaking is because it literally is a supercar for $70,000!
It's an obvious choice to trade the Z in for a GT-R if you really have the money, but any car like that is going to require very expensive upkeep.
But if you test drove the GT-R and you think it's not much different than your Z, then don't buy it.....cuz it should be a WORLD of difference away from a Z!

For the money its a true supercar. If you want it and can afford it then go for it. I would rather have a GTR over the vette any day. How many vettes of any year do you see driving around compared to GTR's. I like to be different. The GTR is definately more rare. The ZR1 is very rare but its still a vette.
None of the cars the OP is comparing the GT-R to are even close. Twin Turbo, all wheel drive, tranny that shifts in less than the blink of an eye - and the 2010 has a manual option, correct? No matter what you do to a 350/370, it will never approach the GT-R either. If the fact that it is a Nissan bothers you, either get over it or don't buy it. The GT-R is easily the best car for the money as far as "supercars" go, but it is still not for everyone - neither is a "vette, absolutely the last car I would buy even if someone gave me the money. One of my best friends has a GT-R and it turns heads every time he takes it out. But for track days, he takes his 350 Track model. Who wants to take a $75k car out and risk doing $20k worth of damage. And yes, the scheduled maintenance would break most of us - price out a simple oil change for instance. I believe the first scheduled maintenance package is around $1200-1400. No thanks!
