Well he’s considering 80k which is a bit much to me so If you can do that, cut living expenses even more (don’t go out to eat, drink, smoke, rent movies or theaters etc etc) In my opinion the ZR1 is a better deal and car. I am still not convinced of the R35. It’s been pitted against other cars and is failing. I am also trying to find the R35 attractive, I’ve tried drinking, spinning in circles and looking at dog poo first, no help. The 370 is also a bit ehhh in aesthetics as well. If I may ask, which would sound and look sexier the ZR1 or R35?

I read through most of of these post and I would tell you to just boost your Z or get a ZO6 and have fun with that. The GT-R is such a nice car but I have two major issues with it. The first one is the transmission and second...the goddamn prices for the aftermarket parts. Its just outrageous you spend 80k for the car and have to spend a million more to put upgrades. Alot of people say you wont need to upgrade the car put we all know eventually your gonna get tired of it and your gonna have to spend major money to upgrade it or god forbid something breaks on it i.e. the tranny. If money isnt a problem for you get the ZR1 f*** the gt-r

I would have to disagree. I have a slightly modded GT-R, am in process of tearing down my TT'd Z to sell off the parts and have recently sold my Lotus. I find the GT-R is what I was trying to build my Z to be. As for the Lotus, it is a great handling car and lots of fun, but it does not have the power down low as is a REALLY difficult car to deal with on a daily baisis due to it's size, seating and maintenance.

I know lots of people will disagree with me, but I find the GT-R to have the handling that I enjoyed from the Lotus and the power I wanted out of the Z, but at a much more managable level. Also yes, the modding is expensive for the GT-R, but simple bolt-ons are not that bad and a few $$$$ can get you an aditional 100whp... so unless you want silly levels of power, that should be enough for most people.

I like the car and even my Dad can drive it without any worry.
As for an M3.. I have raced M3's, M5's and boosted NSX's all of them admited the GT-R was faster, but of course each had reason's they preferred their own car over buying a GT-R. I was even racing a F430 for a week on a Rally and have to say it was mostly a tie, though he would never admit it

I really like this car and it will be the only car I keep, until I can afford to pick up a used DBS or Mazzer.

I'm definitely not super rich, just a car nut. You can pretty much ask any guy in the Mid-A that has been around for a while that question, which is why I am selling the Z. As for the exhaust, I did the downpipes and y-pipe and gained 100whp... so while the parts might be a bit more expensive, you try to get 100whp increase out of 2 exhaust parts + a tune on the Z or Lotus..

I do agree that this car is not for everybody, but neither is a Lotus ;-)

As to the comment about the Z06... dude my Lotus dealer was ALWAYS trying to get me to upgrade the Lotus -> the Z06. they would always give me a set of key and tell me to give it another drive. It might be a good car for the American crowd, but the interior is not to my liking and I really just don't like the look of the car... Not to mention I raced it in the AKA rally and the Z06 could not keep up with me no matter what it tried.

OH and the comment about the voiding the warranty, well with the new launch control there is no reason to turn the VDC off. The car was built to drive on roads/circuit not drag racing. I never did understand why they even listed the 0-60 times to encourage comparisons.

honestly if you are happy with your Z i would keep it. im a car sales consultant and honestly those cars are a rip cause the sales guys make around $10,000 plus dollars on you depending on the features that you want. Nissan dealers will be able to make that much off of you maybe even more easily because who else is selling that particular vehicle. the biggest deal iv seen was on that car they made a $40,000 deal. thats how much they made off the person. i would wait till they are used or next year and try and come up on deals for the older models

I had the same deal as BAM BAM but went the other way.I thought the gtr did not look good , the seats were better quality but did not fit me good where the zo6 did. They both have to much crap in them electric stuff just ready to mess up. As far as engine hands down the big v8 sound and power all motor no blowers to mess up down the road. Also the way they handled at high speeds the zo6 vette has it beat hands down in a crosswinds on the hwy's. The tranny issue was too much for me also. I drove both of them where I could open them up for a bit and the zo6 out did the gtr over 180 . I liked the quality of the nissan inside to way to many buttons to play with while your driving in my opinion.

Either you're full of crap or you are trying to convince yourself to buy something you can't afford in a failing economy by getting the green light from a bunch of guys you've never met before.

The purpose of this thread is beyond my ability to comprehend. Like cheese. How do they make it so friggin good?!
Why hesitate, the same reason I can afford to buy today one but won't. I have financial plans for the future & buying a 85K car is not part of my plans.

What is sad to me is how many people buy/lease cars & to do it, forgo long terms plans for buying homes or planning their retirement.

I am a simple guy, age 53 & will retire in 2 years because I did plan my future retirement starting when I was 24 years old. I see plenty of guys work an extra 5-10 years because they did not plan out their retirement starting in their 20's/30's and/or save adequately for their children's education. I know even more guys that are older than me & claim they can never retire because they bought & planned impulsively. It might not matter to you now but trust me, the last thing you want to be is 65+ years old & have no option but to keep working, even when you cannot physically do it.

Again, I just want to remind you guys that if you do not plan RIGHT NOW your retirement, you wont retire & you might just regret it. The sad part about it is once most realize it, it is too late. There is never a good time to save & plan for retirement. In your 20's/30's you got homes to buy, furniture to buy, education to complete, climbing up the career ladder. In your 40's, your kids need to go to college which costs money. Just when you think you are getting above all of that in your late 40's, chances are one of your parents health will fail thus taking money away from you again.

Sir either you're a bad comedian or you are on drugs. Do you really want a car with a rear leaf spring suspension?

Couldn't said it better. I'm 53 retired and did not get into sports cars till 2006. Reason ? to save enough$$$ so when I did get to 50 I could get play toys lol. I always wanted a z car 240 on up and a vette well Now I can say I have had both. For the time being I am quite happy owning 1 of americas fastest cars. Yes there will always be faster nicer and so on . So the question is why not get the 1 YOUR happy and fck the others. Let them buy whatever they want and they should respect your thoughts. Just my opinion.
