Default Owners with base model 350z w/ no TCS & no VDC

Any owners here with base model 350z's with no TCS or VDC loose traction on painted surfaces like crosswalks alot when it gets colder out? My rear tires lost grip a little when I was making a LH turn on a painted crosswalk tonight this would be the second time this happen to me not as bad as the first time. I was going 25mph with my foot on the gas going nice and steady around this turn. Temp. outside 45 degrees roads dry. I just wanna know that i'm not the only one here.

Thanks

yes it happens, because its obviously a slicker surface. it would happen in my ctsv with all sorta of traction control and computer systems. so nothing wrong!

Ultra high performance and high performance tires become hard and lose traction below 50ş. Assuming you still have OEM tires or equivalent, you have to learn to drive more conservatively when it gets cold. That's what they make all-season tires for.

What tire are you running? Please provide the manufacturer and the specific model description of the tire since this helps diagnose the problem.

I hope you are not running a summer performance tire in the conditions you describe. If you are doing that, you are likely to be included in the notorious “I wrecked my Z” library.

my toyo T1R's do stuff like that at stop signs when it is wet and my rear tires try to get moving again on that solid white line.

That happens to me on my performance model WITH the VDC. I've fish-tailed on dry pavement in the heat and I do not have the stock tires. I have Dunlop Direzzas. Same thing happened when I had stock and Nitto 555. These stock tire sizes in my opinion are just too damn skinny.

You just need to go more slowly around corners at intersections. The first time I can understand, but the second is inexcusable.
-Get some all season tires on your car or put it away until it warms up again.
-Slow down around corners.
-Pay attention to the road surface you are on.

part of the reason why i love the base model is the fact i am the driver and i control everything, my gas, braking, everything

that is why i feel that the base model Z's are a bit more trickier to drive than the other models since you actually gotta monitor your gas input, etc rather having a computer monitor it like the other models.

I love the other models, but i love the base more because it gives me a challenge and i love a good challenge

just the other day i pulled out of the parking lot and did some wheel spin because i gave too much gas lol.

^^ Owners of VDC-equipped and TCS-equipped cars press a button to turn OFF stability controls. Once off, you can do the crazy stuff Base owners can do.

Either this guy has an aftermarket LSD or he's full of marlarky!

That's a coping defense, i like the plain one better. If i had it to do again i'd by the base. These would be typical hateraid flavors.

And still retain the LSD of course. The best reason not to buy base IMO.

I have to disagree, cruise control would be the best reason not to buy a base. Also the LSD is junk anyhow.

I agree. Cruise control is very nice to have. The Z's LSD can cause the rear-end to swing violently left or right in certain traction situations (Watch out for that!).
