Ok here is the deal:
I ordered a ppw enthusiast 6spd 350z the first of july. I put 2k down as a deposit which i was going to apply to the car when it arrived as a down payment. First i was told the car would get here in september or sooner. In september, i called and they said they got a fax with new car arrival dates listed and my car was to be delivered the 3rd of october. well, here it is after october 3rd and when i talked to the dealership last, they told me they called nissan and were told that the car was in transit and would be delivered sometime in october. Whats the lowdown on how long it really takes to get a 350z? I know that good things are worth waiting for but im getting very impatient. Is an october delivery date realistic at this point???

Geez, I have no idea whats up with that. I ordered my car and they had to get it from Miami, was here the next day. Sounds like either your dealer or Nissan is up to something.

 

I had a similar thing happen to me of Sept last year, I ended up waiting 4 months for nothing...! I guess you gotta go with your gut feeling

 

Keiffer you did not order your car, you simply requested it from another dealer. Ordering is actually building or setting dibs on cars coming into the country from the factory. I guess it is possible that Nissan didnt release it on time. The dealer doesnt TRULY have a date that the car will come in, just an estimate. So every date they give you wont be exact. My order came in about 2-3 weeks after their date.

 

was wondering how long after you order will the dealer able to provide you with the vin number? My dealer told me mine is comming between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I just want to make sure everything went thu fine.

 

ESP350Z, seeing that youre from the bay like myself, im wondering which dealer did you go through? i also ordered my Z around July and i got mine on AUG 30th, 2003. so i did wait a while, but i can only imagine what youre goin through... and i only put a $500 deposit for my request... and it aapplied to my down eventually. They are playing games with you because i know taht the '04's came in that same weekend as my car did... so if you ordered it on July, then their pulling your leg and i suggest you go with another dealer... and get your deposit back...

 

I ordered mine on July 19th. Most recent date from Nissan is Nov 7th. Hope it comes on time, the wait has been long. 3 more weeks to go.

 

Same happened to me. Order on Dec 30 to be delivered in March. It didn't come until end of April. I told the dealer I was very dissappointed and was thinking of going and getting the Boxter instead. He through in the cost of the airbags for free about 650.00.

You might be able to get some discount if you try. You have to be willing to walk if they don't give it to you. They may call your bluff.

I also had one ordered in August (signed the papers end of June, couldnt find one) and NNA called me a few days ago and said it should be here around November 7th. I wont believe till I see it..........been waiting for 4 months so far...so freaking long...but it'll be worth it!

here in chicago i had a similar problem..i wanted a superblack touring and no preference and put a downpayment of a $2000.00

it dragged and they(dealership A) told me there wasn't any superblack touring z in the area so they asked me to wait about a week...three weeks pass by and nothing! i wasn't annoyed and it drove my patience insane so i went to other dealerships just to look myself. TURNS OUT...it's not that they(A) couldn't find a superblack touring BUT none of the dealers would let it GIVE UP THERE SB! So i brought the price/sheet of paper that i recieved at that specific dealership(A) and went to another one and they gave it to me for the price quote of (A).

advice LOOK around other dealerships because everyone one of there job is to hold on to the potential buyer til they can get a hand on one. AT LEAST IN CHICAGO=)

 

I guess what sucks for me is that i will not accept any other color except PPW, which there seems to be a shortage of in my area. Sure there have been some 5at ppw z's, but my 90 300zx is an auto, and i sure did miss having a stick shift while driving it. Now im stuck driving my parents van because my 90 300zx is sitting in the driveway with a faulty TPS that i dont want to replace before the trade in which seems to be a day thats never going to come.
When it arrives, im gunna be VERY VERY relieved. I guess im gunna hang in there.

 

How does a trade get handled if you have a car on order? That's my dilema right now. I have to trade in my current vehicle, but there are no 6 spd Enthusaist models with the options I want and the color I want within 500 miles of my area. Do you negotiate the price of the car upon ordering it? Or do you negotiate it when the car finally comes in, and negotiate your trade in value as well at the same time?

 

well, im sure the dealers are going to pull the old " your car depreciated from the time we placed the order till the time we took delivery of the 350z" I'm being told by my dealer that they understand my budget and will honor our initial deal but i will let you all know if they keep their word when the car actually arrives.....

Good to know I am not the only one this has happened too. Ordered my SB Touring on August 15th and they said it would get here in Oct. As it got closer too October they gave me a date of Oct. 13 - 15. That date came and no car. Finally on Friday they told me it would be coming in sometime in December. Big pain in the butt since I had my old car all lined up to be sold to another person. Thinking about trying to get a different touring without the options I want. So frustrating.

 

I had to fight like hell to get my trade in amount in writing. Try to get yours in writing. Of course they put the stipulation in my letter "providing there is no extra wear and tear on the vehicle".

Keeping my fingers crossed all goes well and they give me at least close to what they promised......

 

ya i had same problem. ordered in august, and they told me taht they could give us an estimate as to how much its worth now, but would not quote me a price because of the depreciation of when the car comes in. i was told when i ordered it that it would be in at the end of sept, and then end of sept became early orctober, which quickly became sometime in october, which became end of october, and as of monday, its early nov. im so pissed, but there are no 04 tracks anywhere that i can find, much less with nav and all the other options. gah

 

ordered my car in July... arrival date is also November 7th. Since two other people in this thread indicated an arrival date of Nov 7, they must be coming over on the same boat.

Why order? There are dealers with Z's in stock all over the U.S. Find a dealer with a car in stock with the options you want and have it shipped to you.

Because when I ordered the Z in early July the 2004 weren't out yet... I know, I know... I should have been patient but I wasn't.

 

Ditto what Chuck said.......I thought they could find me an 03 but none were around. At least none that they were willing to spend money on.........
