Alright... a bunch of younger guys, and older Dad and a 17 year old (with a 350Z I might ad).... maybe it wouldn't have been that even.

Woah, are you seriously upset that the guy and his son went to jail? Please tell me you're kidding. There is nothing (well, almost nothing) in this world that should give one person the right to fracture another person's skull with a baseball bat. This is just about as disturbing as that dad who killed another dad at a youth hockey game...

Yup, using a weapon is very severe. I understand the anger and would want to do the same but must keep our heads. Call the police, detain the bastard, and they sue him. If he tries to run, then beat the crap outta him with your fists until he's willing to stay for the cops
