Default Track Model

Guys and gals-

Is there any good reason to buy (or not buy) a Track model?

I'm sending this from Iraq and will be returning in 2-3 months...at that point, I plan to buy a Z. I'm not into the idea of spending too much time buying mods until a couple of years down the line.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think the answer is Obvious.

what you want the car to come with, how much $ you want to
spend on your Z, and what mods you plan to do in the future.

it's really for you to decide.

I say go for the TRACK.

I decided to go w/ the track because I did not want or intent to do aftermarket wheels or breaks, and I did not want/need leather. However I did want VDC and the aero package.

So (for me) it was worth it to pay the extra for the nice Rays wheels and Brembro breaks from the factory.

As I'm sure other will point out you can get equivilent or better in the aftermarket but again (for me) it was worth it not to have to deal w/ finding and then installing, or paying to have installed, aftermarket wheels and breaks. Plus heaven forbid I should have any issues with the Rays or Brembos I could have work done under warrent. (It is, as mine's an '03, a first year car after all)

That's just my $0.02

I originally planned to buy a Performance model and then upgrade the brakes and wheels. I do a lot of track events and knew that I would need better than OEM brakes. And, I didn't really like the OEM wheels.

The Track model that I bought was an impulse. I had already ordered a Performance model. A local dealer had the same color Track model and I ended up buying that one.

I'm glad I did becuase the Brembos have been awesome at the track. I did buy a different set of wheels/tires for the track, but I doubt I will ever change the Rays wheels.

Hope that helps.

As an owner of a track model, I feel compelled to advise you to go for the track. Aside from the obvious differences/upgrades, there comes a certain (for lack of a better term) panache with owning the top level Z. I see dozens of Z's in my area, however I have one of only three Track models around, at least that I'm aware of. They are few and far between and as such, draw considerable admiration. I didn't buy the car for the social aspect, I purchased for many of the the same reasons as mentioned above; performance parts from factory, warranty, etc.

I got the Track b/c i liked the brembo's and didn't want to mess with aftermarket brake(although Stoptech makes good systems) and i got a good price for the track through nissan VPP (family member). I presume you are active duty like myself. watch your 6' and have a safe voyage home.

Even with everything going on over in Iraq you're thinking of a Z!!! First be safe, and thanks for what you are doing for our country, thank you!

As far as getting the Track model, it depends on whether you plan on taking it to the track (sorry.) If it were me, I'd buy the touring with leather, heated power seats & mirrors, and VDC TCS; you'll get more daily use out of the luxury items. Only thing you're missing are the Brembos and Ray's wheels (which do look awesome.) Just my .02!

To be honest, I have been real happy with my Enthusiast, which only costing around 28K w/aero, I think is a bargain for what you get.

No matter what you decide, any Z is sweet, with the Track being the ultimate model on a road course. It's all about what you really want/need. Good luck deciding and Godspeed!

I bought the track because it was nice enough out the factory, and everything's under warranty!
Now I do admit I'm a 'modaholic'(at least used to when I still owned my 99' Lude SH), hoping that I can spend less on mods now since it's almost perfect for me so far~

I think I would go for the track now, I want a roadster but everytime I say to myself, if I had a touring coupe I want to add the Rays and Brembos, so since cars depreciate anyway, adding these would range from 2000 to about 10000.00 if purchased used or new. S, for about 36000 loaded plus an extra 500 to 1000 for leather , this seems to be the best way for me. Although if I do go for the roadster I will be looking for the Rays and Brembos for sale. ( new would run about 10000.00
