Say hey to the Z35
How i felt with that link
Am I the only one ok with the idea of a turbo 4?? I love the VQ but always ventured into the "Forced Induction" forum just to dream about blow-off valves and boost controllers...
I think it would be nice to be turbo'd straight from the factory WITH a warranty in the same HP range as the Z currently has, right?!?!?

LMAO YES.
I understand what you're trying to say but you do realize that most powertrain warranties from a manufacturer are null&void once aftermarket modifications are installed?
I'm not saying something as simple as a SRI (Short Ram Intake), but an in-line MBC (Manual Boost Controller) to raise boost would be more than enough reason for a dealer to not honor warranty because the car comes from factory with a stock setup and they could blame the additional boost easily causing problems if any arise.
Please correct me if I'm wrong but I've seen cases like this with a couple factory FI vehicles (WRX's*)

They should just throw a turbo on the V6 and make everyone happy!
If it has the close to the same torque output, I'd be ok with that... One of the main complaints in the FI forum is reliability so hopefully that wouldn't be an issue with an engine designed for a turbo... Also, it might be easier & cheaper to make power from that engine...

I stand corrected (edited original post) but the rest of what I'm stating is true... Manufacturers and their respected dealerships are very strict about modifications to factory FI engines because they are more maintenance to begin with.

No an engine that is turboed for a mass produced sports car will not be the same performance as one that costs wayyyy more. For two a N/A high output v6 would provide a better experience, and less maintenance, and be cheaper to produce.

+1 ^
I get your points but I'm just saying, I wouldn't be opposed to the idea at all. I have always wanted a turbo but didn't want the hassle of an aftermarket kit.
I would think/hope/wish/dream that Nismo would jump on board and they would give the Z their own treatment.
***The Nismo Stage 1 Boost Package gives you 76hp and 62 ft-lbs of torque just by a ECU retune, Nismo exhaust and intake.***
A guy can dream, right?

That would be a great option, but not to be competitive as a Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, or even Hyundai right now. Turbo inline 4s are for Subarus, Mazda, and Mitsubishis and all those engines have a myriad of problems when your start modding
How about RB power? Update with modern engine management and a huge aftermarket parts bin already exists, that's what this anemic proposal needs. If the FRS/BRZ is any indicator, going low on the displacement will be a losing proposition.
I like how there are so many people in this thread thinking that the article and concept came directly from Nissan, and not Motor Trend and their "insider", which could be the janitor.
