Default speedometer cluster

Have 2003 350z TOURING non-brembo manual trans. What other years of speedometer cluster will work on this model and what won't work. Try researching and just find bits and pieces of info.

Pretty sure there all interchangeable as I have a HR and used a DE cluster while sending my cluster to get the led lights and face plate changed.

There's a guy on youtube that does custom cluster work for manual and auto 350z, he then test them on his manual 350z. So with that being said i'm pretty sure that any 350z cluster would work on any 350z. However if you have say cruise control and the cluster you get is a base model then there's no led light in that spot on the cluster and it won't light up when you use it. Same for traction control ect

The auto cluster also has a section for the trans gear selection to show, 6spd cluster doesn't have that box.

The gauge cluster also contains the odometer, which is specific to the car it came out of. Be aware it's a violation of federal law (and most states) to tamper with it, so installing another cluster with a different mileage could be trouble.

I would think the computer has the odometer information stored in it, not the actual cluster. Unless it's a 70s pick up truck.

Your assumption is wrong- the ECM does not have odometer data stored in it. Nissan designed the electronic gauge in the cluster to hold this information.

Well damn that makes lowering your miles kinda easy. We have an inspection every year were they record the miles with the vin and that info is available. But I dont think most states do unless you get a new title. Thanks for setting me straight.
