Default VDC & Slip lights

I was in an accident not to long ago where I hit the middle barrier with my drivers side rear. My wheel was facing about 2 inches out.(pointing towards 11 on a clock if looking at it from the back.) I replaced the rear subframe, strut, spring bucket, and lateral arm replaced and everything is now straight again. As I was driving it my VDC and Slip light came on and stayed on until I turned my car off. Once I started the car back up they were gone. What could this be? What else should I replace?

It wouldn't be unusual for the VDC and Traction Control System to "reset" after the crash you describe. That reset can even happen after doing some "donuts."

Question: Has the SLIP light come on again (after its initial display that went away when you restarted the car)?

The possibilities:

- Rear speed sensor(s) - could be damaged or somehow disconnected during the repair work. (Or as result of the shunt.)

- Front speed sensors - not as likely since they weren't touched in the shunt nor repair.

- Steering angle sensor - possibly but not likely thrown off during accident. Could possibly have damage or disconnected the clockspring.

Have you pulled codes on this? Steering angle sensor can/most often will show up as a fault.

Insurance would have fixed it if you had full coverage

For most people, filing a claim with the insurance for a $5k car is not worth the points on your license and increased premium that comes with it over the next 5 years

Exactly, you understand. The symptoms he describes happen when you drift a 350z.
