Default Check engine light HELP!!!!!!!! Please

Hello, I have a 2003 Nissan 350z touring model. The weird issue I am having is the check engine light goes on and blinks. Which I know is a misfire and the motor does change and starts to sound like a subie but the weird thing is it only does it sometimes sometimes when I’m driving it will do it and then everything will go back to normal next min. I changed the plugs the only thing I could think of is the coil packs?

You pull the DTCs? You'll likely come up with a 030x code if you're lucky and don't just get the generic 0300 "random". Intermittent misfire usually means you have at least one or more C/Ps going out.

so would it just be a good idea to just change all the coil packs? Any suggestions on where to get them auto zone has them for 260?

At this price, yes:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-6PCS-Ig...72.m2749.l2649

My shop (implicitly trusted) warns to only use OEM ignitors (and I've heard other horror stories). Set linked above is a Nissan OEM set that I just used. I don't know how they're selling them so cheap but not asking questions. Other option is the Hitachi IGC0007 - OEM equivalent from the OE manufacturer of the Nissan branded ones.

Replacing parts in never a good diagnostic method. Figure out what's wrong before replacing parts. Pull the code.

Yes, agree! My recommendation on coilpacks was presumably AFTER proper diagnosis (why I axked about the DTC). Didn't mean to imply use of the Throw-Parts-At-It method. Hahahahaha!

I would love to pull the code but everytime it throws the CEL it’s starts to run like a subie I keep driving and then it starts to act normal again CEL goes away. So maybe part buying may be the option

I thought same thing after shopping everywhere and SINGLE OEMs cost as much as this entire set! But yup, unless someone pulled a fast one (and well done, I'd add), the boxes arrived sealed and with genuine part numbers. I figured, "Whutdahell.... give 'em shot." No problems since install. (Not that generics would give me problems this fast with less than 500 miles on them but still...)

like these other guys said get the codes pulled they will be stored in the ecu. Cheap Code scanners are like $20 at Walmart or get it done free at autozone. I’m guessing your gonna have a P0300 code in there for multiple random misfires. I wouldn’t keep driving the car with this issue as it will mess up the motor eventually. P0300 can be caused by a lot of different issues. Throwing parts at it will be expensive. If your not experienced with diagnostics you may be best off bringing the car to a good mechanic who can figure it out.
ive seen multiple random misfires caused by clogged cats, bad spark plugs or coils, bad MAF, valve cover gaskets leaking oil into spark plug tubes (I would check for this it’s common on VQs) and one of my cars had such bad piston rings they would foul the plugs with oil lol. There’s tons of causes for this code.
because it’s happening when driving but going away, it sounds like you have a bad electrical connection somewhere. I would check connections on coils and MAF first but like I said there’s a lot of things that could be the cause.
