O rings on left valve cover shot, should I replace both?
Doing my valve cover gaskets but when I removed the passenger side valve cover 2 of my spark plugs were drenched in oil from bad o rings however the driver side is absolutely spotless. I was just going to buy both valve covers but the OEM ones the dealer absolutely taxes on. Am I fine just to replace the passenger side valve cover or should I just buy both? Would really rather not get both but if changes are the driver o rings are soon to go bad I’ll just get both. Thanks to all the members on here helping me out!
I (along with most people) would change both just to prevent having to go back in again in the future. Have you looked online at Z1 or CZP for gaskets instead of the dealer?
Already bought both gaskets I’m talking about the valve covers themselves. Both covers were leaking on the outside so I bought both gaskets but there’s oil on 2 of the spark plugs on the passenger side from the bad o rings from the valve cover itself. The o rings you can’t replace so you have to buy a whole new valve cover. So I’m wondering if I should only replace the left valve cover since the driver side is spotless as far as spark plugs go. Z1 is charging 220 a piece.
If you plan on keeping the car for awhile, yes change both at the same time.

agree with both answers. However, if the o-rings on the good one are absolutely impeccable, meaning absolutely NO cracks when you play with them, one would be fine. Are they really not replaceable though? Hell even the teeny tiny o ring in the service port of the ac line is replaceable. I mean that thing is ****ing SMALL! If there a chance in hell to replace the ring, I'd do it to save money.
