Can’t believe I’m asking this but how am I suppose to get this battery out to change on my own without screwing anything up. This is my first Z so I’m still new to the platform but I’ve read horror stories doing this in an 03 for example all I did was take the negative off and back on and it blurred every station on my radio out and the time won’t stay set.
not trying to take it somewhere unless I have to to keep everything working.

 

If you're asking how to change the battery, you need to remove all the plastic cover pieces.

As far as the radio resetting, that happens whenever you disconnect the battery.

 

i get that but the radio won’t pick up a single station now I don’t really use it but I want everything functional and time won’t stay set on it

 

Remove all the plastic rivets and take out the plastic panels surrounding the battery. Buy and use a Noco settings keeper.




Disconnect cables, replace battery.

 

Did you check the fuses? Sounds like your head unit is not getting constant power.

Or, your battery is so dead, it's not supplying enough power to keep the settings.

 

Or its a pos head unit thats 20 years old and could probably use a little updating.

Regardless if your stumped by replacing a battery you should up your you tube education, or think about getting into lease vehicles.

 

not stumped by replacing a battery and it’s aftermarket radio. Just being cautious based off what I’ve read about the 03’s. After all it is a 20 year old car. I appreciate the sarcastic feedback tho.

There's nothing special about changing the battery in the 03's. Nothing needs to be reset or programmed.(unsure about TPMS)

 

Exactly my thoughts. I’ve never read/heard anywhere that ‘03 33s have any “special handling” and there are certainly no issues with its electrical system.

But open to listening to what these “issues” are that seem to require kid gloves to repair.

 

I think OP should take a drive to the donut shop. Maybe it's his negative terminal.

 

I replaced my 2004 battery a couple of months ago. No problems except you will need a box of those plastic rivets (Amazon?). I had to replace five of mine.
