350Z vs S2000
I'll chime in on this thread. Having owned a 2005 S2000 and 2004 350Z and a 2006 Z4, the 350Z to me just won all around. The S2k has the best shifting I ever experienced in a car, but its way too small inside. The Z4 was my favorite to drive, but rode too stiff and the 350Z just made me happy all around with no complaints about anything. 350Z>Z4>S2000 in my opinion.
i seen back a bit people questioning the lotus elise and the 427 Shelby Cobra as being small and petit and does that make them chick cars. my answer is no. if you ask a girly girl about them the chances they know what the hell either of those even is are slim to none. I tested this on my wife, she had no idea something like the lotus existed and she said cobra sounds familiar but she has never seen or heard about one.
my best friend owns an s2k and he's let me borrow it for weeks on end...
I do enjoy driving it...its stiff...vtec-ing was fun ... but the torque of the Z and the feel when steering makes me glad I own a Z ...

As a side note:
S2k is TT now..working out bugs..but just a heads up to the Z community

When I decided to move up car wise from my 97 Prelude I had 3 choices: S2000, RX-8, and 350Z.
RX-8 - Wimpy engine. Gas mileage sucked. Styling was too in-your-face for me.
S2000 - I'm 6'8", so that was out of the question. Once I managed to shoehorn myself into the seat, I realized my head stuck out above the windshield. Didn't feel like getting scalped during a rollover.
350Z - Just right. Awesome power, smooth CLEAN good looks, and much more practical as a daily driver. The choice was obvious, but I had been leaning toward it the whole time....

I too shopped the RX-8, s2000, and the 350Z before deciding on my Z.
RX-8 - Great handling, but the engine is much like the s2000 in that you have to keep it in the high end of the RPMs to get power. Rediculously bad gas mileage.
s2000 - Great handling but the ride was truly a roadster ride in that it was extremely loud and rough. Engine had to be in the upper revs to get any power.
350Z - I chose the Z because it really was a comfortable sports car that had outstanding power stock. Much quieter ride than the s2000 and much better gas mileage than the RX-8.

S2K is the better handling car, better shifting. But you have to drive it, like you hate it to really appreciate the power.+1/120hp per liter,+2/181mph engine cutoff. I have three times more horse power+coilovers in my Z, I smoke my room mate's 2002 S2K(redline 9K) off the start, but he can catch up to me after a minute.-1/The S2K is a 6'1 180lbs and under car, it is small .-2/And city driving kind-of sucks. but my room mate's damn near stock 2002 S2K kills cars that cost 2-3 times the amount at high speeds 50/50 weight.
I test drove a Miata and an S2K before I bought my Z. The other 2 cars handled better and felt more sporty. 300 hp and 2 more cylinders just made more sense. The other 2 just required more effort than I would like to put in on the streets. I refer to the S2K as "God's car", and the Miata is a hoot. However, neither one sounds like a "manly" car.
edit: Wow, that was my first post...really?

Yeah i kill my friends 01 s2000 off the line and drives 100% smoother. I wanted an s2000 before i tried to drive my friends, 6'4 doesnt work to well when it comes to the clutch my knee and the steering wheel lol.
I kinda wanna get an s2000 as a main track car. Roll cage with hardtop added. I'd love that setup. I personally like the cramped feeling of the s2000 when I sat in one. I would greatly consider it if I was going to decided between a Z and an s2000, but my Z was and still is my dream car. That's a hard choice. I definitely like the rawness of the honda, but the Z is also great.
I compared the S2000, Lexus IS300, RSX and my Z
The S2000 is way too small, like everyone says. It also felt weak when going thru the rpms to near redline. It also is a chicks car so obviously i said F it
The lecus was nice, lookking for a rwd mainly tho. it was ok.. not too fast, not too slow.. MEH is my final opinion
the RSX came close, FWD again but a nice looking car, I liked the interior as it was sporty with all leather and 6 gears.. appealing car for sure (liked it more than the s2000)
Then there was my Z
I went and immediately knew it was the car I was after. sporty, great body lines, fast, leather interior with a comfortable wrapped in feeling when I sat down. The engine sounds very nice stock and had a nice range thru the rpms.
I bought the Z and came close to gettin the RSX. The Z is a great car, the more mods added the better the car responds. its a great choice for anyone looking for a cheap, sporty car.
