Clicking Noise In Rear - Told Its Normal By Dealer
I have had a clicking noise coming from the rear end of my car for a while now. I've taken it to the dealership several times.
The time before last, they did the fix solution of torqueing the rear and it stopped for a while. After about 2000 miles, it started again. I took it back to the dealer and they called fox again. Fix said they never had one start doing it again and said it must be normal!
Dealer said there was nothing they could do. I called my girl at the 800 # and she said that because Nissan engineers said it was normal there was nothing she could do.
Has anyone else had the problem come back?
Anyone able to tell my dealer what to do? (don't seem the brightest)
Thanks for any honest posts.

yup, same problem here, supposedly, you have to get your axle splines relubed/retorqued, my dealership keeps telling me there is nothing wrong, they can't duplicate the sound, blah blah blah, i'm going to take it to another dealership where other people have gotten their problems fixed.

Couldn't duplicate the sound.
Thats what they told me. Funny thing I had the sound occur a couple of times before I got a half mile away from the dealer.

My roadster recently started making a clicking noise on acceleration and deceleration. It's a kind of creaking. It will do it if I put on the brakes and let out on the clutch. Is this like the sound you guys are hearing? Only under stress does it make the noise.

The sound happens when the clutch is being let out and I'm accelerating. It's especially noticeable when I'm on a hill. I've never noticed it when braking.
One sure way it does make the noise: Put the car in first, press the gas a little and let off the clutch, as the car starts rolling, let of the gas (without pressing the brakes or clutch), and press the gas again. You can keep pressing the gas and letting off and the noise keeps repeating.
This is how I proved the local dealership shop manager "with 8 years experience!" wrong. He kept telling me it was my brake pads releasing.
I guess I'll be driving to another dealership - At least I do see that others are experiencing my greif.
To help support me - what dealerships are working on your cars? If the next dealer tells me the same crap - I'll tell them to call someone who has fixed it. Anybody else opened a case # with the 800# either?

I cant remember how exactly I recreated the noise but it went something like this:
Park car. Put car in gear (or parking brake on . . .this is the part I don’t remember, so try it both ways) rock the car back and fourth by pushing the rear of the car. The axles will click and pop every time. Many of us called them "crickets" back in the day.
I just eventually smoked the hub nuts down with a massive impact wrench. I don’t even want to know the torque I put on them. They don’t make noise any more!!!!!

my dealer "new" what I was saying before I got it out ans said they had replaced axles befroe with no luck...
he told me it turns out to be some part of the parking brake adjuster in the rear hubs and that their is currently no fix. He even called a tech on speaker phone and asked if their a was a fix yet...still nothing.

Mine makes a metallic clicking noise when the suspension is loaded on a mild to moderate take-off and when moving through the gears. Also occurs when I apply the brakes. If I accelerate carefully - who does this! - I can avoid the sound. Taking it to the dealer soon...
