Default tell me van..........

how were you able to get a build date? My salesman confirmed there would be no VIn until the boat docked, but the production date would be very helpful.............thanks

Cuki - no worries. I think we're all onto ya though!

Wotnot - This is just what I know. If anyone can add to this or correct me, please do. You should be able to find out a production month by finding out if they've submitted your order to Nissan Canada. That should give you an order number and an estimated production month. Your VIN will show up when the vehicle is on the boat on its way here (as opposed to when it gets to port here).

There might be a chance that they still have your order and have to wait to submit it. So, if they haven't got an order number for you, you can probably still work out a build month. The dealer is allotted a certain number of Z's per month. I'm not sure what that number is for NPN but you should be able to find out that and how many people are in line in front of you.

It wasn't easy getting much information out of them at first to be honest. But now, closer to delivery, they've become much more helpful. I've made it a point of trying to phone them once a week just to touch base. I just got off the phone with NPN. They are delivering the car before mine on Monday and then I'm up next. There are shipments coming in October 30, November 6 and November 13th. They believe my car is in one of those shipments and they are trying to get a VIN for me. Hope this is of some help to ya.

No problem!! We gotta do something to pass the time until our cars get here! Besides, we're earning a fellow Canuck those points for his black spoiler!

Let us know with a post on here how you make out with the dealer.

Cuki570:

My sources tell me that Nissan forgot to chain your car to deck while in transit. As a result your car is now parked at the bottom of the Pacific somewhere between Osaka and Vancouver.

The bright side is that the salt water should get rid of any orange peel on your car.

Seriously, your VIN appeared this morning on CN system. It’s on rail car # ETTX853745 but there is no ETA yet.

I’ll let you know when it appears.

Icepig:

I happy your car has arrived. It is strange that it never appeared on CN’s site. What I’ve noticed so far is that as soon as the car is off the train, it disappears from CN’s system. Maybe your car was already unloaded when I started tracing last week.

Anyway, congratulations and enjoy your car.

BTW things are looking even better for me. My ETA is now 10/22.

Thanks Pooch, I thought you'd never reply . I guess that I'm not on the same train as yours which means that it'll come later, right?

(Pooch, hehe if you had just left a message that my car is a coral reef at the bottom of the ocean, I'd believe ya. Your info has been deadly accurate so far. )

Cuki570 and Belkmike:

This is the current status of your cars.

Mine and Mike’s are really flying, at this pace they’ll be in TO tomorrow. I’ll post again if they are.

BTW it’s snowing as I write this in Quebec City. Gonna have to start using more fluorocarbons to kick up that greenhouse effect.

Snowing? That is truly disgusting. It's 20 deg C on the positive side here in Calgary. Nice day for a white wedding! And driving in your Z, well that's O.K. too.

thanks Pooch, arrives on tuesday so if I push them I may get it by weekend.

with regard to the spoiler, I called sherway Nissan and was quoted for $605.00(parts only). However, they emphasized that the spoiler is primed but not PAINTED! I'm always under the impression that it comes painted in the color you have chosen, but the parts guy said that is only in US. If this is true, then I would seriously consider ordering one from the US (cost US$371.00 which is approx 600 cdn). Anyone care to comment? (also, would there be import duties that I'd have to pay? I've never ordered anything by courier from US)

Well, I was quoted $850 from my dealer. Never found out if that was just the price of the fin or installed (I assume the latter). Considering that and factoring in US exhange, that puts the fin from courtesyparts.com at about $595 CDN + shipping and brokerage. Then labor for the installation.

Didn't one of the Toronto guys who got his car this past week get a fin? I thought I saw a breakdown of pricing including labor on there. Maybe that'll help?

Cuki570 your car has arrived in Toronto.

Mine arrived in Montreal yesterday. Hopefully it won't take longer from Montreal to Quebec City by truck than Vancouver to Montreal by train.

I changed the colour about two months after I pre-ordered and a month after I received the confirmation. Although I was told the contrary, the change may affect your production date. I suggest you make the changes ASAP.

Mine is at the dealer now. I'm going to go have a look and I get it tomorrow. Ordered May 25th delivered Oct 22nd. I am fortunate.

I will post how it compares to my E36 M3 when I put on a few miles.

Thanks again Neil
