Default Comphrehensive Problem List

I would like to see a list of all the warranty problems members are having so we can compile a list to pass on to ZISME, NNA. I haven't seen such a list, so forgive me if this is a re-post. If no list is available, I propose we compile one so all in the forums can be aware of potential warranty problems to allow Nissan to fix them for each 350Z in the shortest time possible. If a recall(s) is necessary based on the data we gather on this thread, then Nissan can proceed. I'm sure they want all the problem areas addressed so they can repair owner cars and make running changes in their production process. I'll start with:

1. Window streaks- I've seen a lot of this problem
2. Bose stereo in Touring models

By the way, I, the moderators or whoever else will do the consolidating, please just list the problem in as few words as you can. Thanks

Boomer

Another common complaint: Interior rattles (passenger sun visor is most common, also rear strut tower brace)

I had both of these and they are both now fixed (dealer replaced sun visor, I fixed the rear brace myself with some foam pads under the plastic "Z" logo piece)

Does anyone hear a buzzing type rattle to the left of the driver's seat while driving? That's really the only rattle I've got so far.

Default problem list

1. Adding orange peel on paint to the list of possible warranty issues.
2. Adding cold start rattle in engine, mine. We just had a cooldown in Oklahoma and I noticed a rattling sound when I started the engine after sitting overnight. Has anyone else noticed it on a cold start? It rattled a little later after sitting most of the day.

I have something while listening to the stereo loud in the door area and it stops if I put my hand on the little red reflector.

Keep them coming folks. I'll start consolidating the list as soon as I have a slowdown and post preliminary results periodically. Like every 6-8 problems to start, and others can check the list and I'll incorporate their issues.

Boomer-- lets hope we don't have very many major problems but maybe we can catch most, if not all of them.

Have you taken it to the dealer yet? It sounds like the drain holes aren't working, maybe. I'll add it, Vic.

I've got a several, but some are repeats:

Visor Rattle

Some dashboard rattles (very small)

Drivers Seat has side-to-side movement during RT turns (will probably get this checked out next month)

Door Seals poor (water gets past first seal onto/under kickplates -future rust problems?). Inner seal OK so far (water does not get on carpet).

2500 miles

-I have a "clunking sound" coming from the drivers seat. I had the seats redone last week and mentioned the problem to the installer who couldn't find the source. It is still making the sound. I'm not sure if this is what D'oh was referring to. If not, anyone else experiencing this problem?

-"Difficult" gear shifting on the 6MT has been mentioned quite a bit (and has been experienced).

- I still get fogged lights in the morning and after washing the car.

rubber molding/seal between the body and the trunk (on the side of the car (not the rear)) seems rather flimsy .. seems like it will wear out really quickly (less than a year) it kind of protrudes out like its about to fall out of its track. (the molding is right above and the door handles on connecting the hatchback to the body)

Hey z350z, where did you get your visor fixed? The dealer I went to so far insisted that the sound was NOT from the visor and went and took out the entire headliner and insulated it.. The sound is still there, when I open the visor and open the vanity mirror it goes away, i'm assuming it's rattling because of the wiring/circuitry in there (that's what everyone else said the problem is coming from).

That sounds suspiciously like the cold-start throw-out bearing rattle on other cars. My VR-4 had that all the time and it wasn't ever really an issue. Take it to the dealer if you're concerned. Does the sound come from the tranny or up front?

The fore mentioned rattles, and my drivers seat has a lot of movement in it, 1/8 - 1/4" at least. This really annoys me during hard driving.

I can live with the rattles, but the seat has to be fixed.
Also, the tranny is a little rough from 1-2 and 2-3 sometimes, and occasionally have a slight grind when going into 5th....

Oh, and the paint stinks, but I am use to it from other Nissan products.

Visor rattle (both driver and passenger sides) is the only problem I know of so far. When I flip the visor down, most of the noise goes away. I have not called the dealer yet, but it is very anoying and I want to get it fixed.

Seatbelt rattle! The fact that if you are in the driver seat, and you pull the passenger seat forward to access the storage compartment, the seat doesn't recline back to the desired position.

That's all I see.

Orange peel on the hood.
Orange peel on the doors.
Orange peel on the rear bumper.
Even worse orange peel on the spoiler.

Something I noticed when pulling the passenger seat forward from the latch behind the passenger seat... when placing the seat back to it's forward position you can hold the rear latch and incline it back to its positon it was prior.

This may be obvious to some users... if not.. it's much easier than reaching over to the right side of the seat to re-set it.

Other than that.. I have just noticed rattles on the left side of my dash.. haven't located it yet. And when the Bose stereo sub hits the rear left near the strut brace and 6" speakers is rattling and annoying the hell of of me!

My list @ 3200 miles:

1) Passenger Visor Rattle - already had the dealer replace this once and it still rattles!

2) Grease streak on passenger window - friends new Altima does this as well.

3) Drivers Seat has side-to-side movement during RT turns

4) Shifting issues (1 to 2, 5 to 4 or 6 to 4) - not looking good, I'm having similar problems that InternetAbyss had (we are 10 vin#'s apart). Contacting Nissan now to see if its the same Clutch Pressure and Clutch plate issue.

5) Kick plates coming up - the silver part almost looks a little warped so they have a slight raise on one side.

6) Front right rim has what looks like rust on it. Will investigate further when time permits.

Have you been using he seatbelt clip on the passenger side? Also, the seatback recline is manual, you have to use the lever on the side to recline it. I thought the passenger seatback recliner was power, just like the driver's side, it isn't.
