Shared platform does not mean the same platform.

For example....
The current G has a wheelbase of 112.2 & the Z is 104.3

Yeah prove is a strong word. We're just looking at some strong indicators.

Also, not sure you are aware of the biggest indicator of weight reduction, the sectioned and shortened wheelbase test mule Z that has been recently spotted testing against the similar short wheelbase and lightweight porsche cayman and z4 coupe.

+1 to that!!

I would probably make a small tweak with the door handles, I really like the concept Z in 2001 at the LA Auto shows door handles they were a little slimmer...
2. 3.7HR with 330HP like the G37

how about making the Z competitive with the corvettes.
425 NA HP V8 AWD
if the price goes up to 40K who cares, most people on this post have at least an extra 10K in the motor alone.
Weight is only a factor because of the weak stock motor.

Other than your price point it sounds like you're looking for a GTR. I don't think you'll ever see anything like you described from Nissan at those $$. Not so sure about the $10K on the motor either but I'm more of a noob to this site. I only have a few small bolt ons.

All I want is a 330-350 hp and about 300 pounds lighter. Perhaps a 5-10% price hike would be ok.

i dont think targa tops is part of nissans portfolio. either hard or soft seems to be their liking.

and they wont get rid of autos unless they want to go out of business. most vettes made are autos. look it up. the cool thing its got the paddle shift. maybe u dont think its manly but lambo does and so does ferrari etc etc.

so keeping it basic more power with no oil consumption issues on brand new components and no electrical problems when brand new. overall its pretty much perfect the way it is.

**** do you yanks know how much a base zed costs in the uk? about $54,000 , porsche etc never sell anywhere near as many caymans (or gaymans as they are called here) as zeds. Blieve me, , go look at the mubers of zeds made versus cayman, or boxster. (A porsche gayman ,sorry cayman) here starts from UK Pounds 45k ie $ 90,000, it is all about badges and yes a small amount of enginerring. NB i am not taking the **** out of americans (sorry yanks) i was with one for a while, just think , you lot get a far better deal than everyone else, realise its all marketing , ie they are not really in competition.

C'mon Nissan, if Subaru can make the new 4-door AWD WRX weigh 3142 lbs. you can make the Z lighter!
