Looking at the parts catalog, they show 2 gear sets, but give no ratio. also the limited slip is a viscous.
thanks

It would be interesting if there is a different gear set available as an option, like for a track model. So those that want the reduced economy but better acceleration would have the option, or it comes standard with the 3.9 ratio. Hell, this thing will be fast as it is... maybe for the NISMO version.

But I would assume now with the 7AT in the 370Z, each tranny gets a different gearset. The 7AT in the G37 gets a new 3.357:1, and the 6MT remains with the old 3.69:1 that both the 6MT and 5AT had.

Considering that the 7AT G37 is posting the same performance as the 6MT G37, I bet these ratios will be mimicked in the 370Z. After all, the first 4 gears in the 7AT are much more aggressive than the 6MT.

I guess like others have mentioned earlier it would depend on the max RPM the engine can handle. I am not sure if it will rev higher than the HR's since its a larger motor I would of thought the rpm would not be as high. However GTM makes a stroker kit that can rev higher so anything is possible. Does anyone have any speculation on that?

A stroked motor can rev just as high as an un-stroked motor. The thing is that it generally doesn't need to rev high since it makes its power earlier on in the rpm range compared to an un-stroked motor and its power also tends to fall off earlier off in the higher rpms as well.

Default Quick question

Hey guys,
I just stumbled onto this thread because I was considering switchiing out my "pumpkin" in my 07' 350z base. I was wanting limited slip diff. and did not consider the change in top end. I do alot of highway driving and cruising at 80 with the tach around 2500-3000 is nice for gas. should I just keep what I have since i don't race and rag my car. Thanks, Cris

Where can we get the higher gear sets? I have only seen 350evo or whatever it is and their price seems high to me for what you get.

Cris,

Are you looking into installing an LSD into your base model car? or are you looking into swap out your final drive?

If all you are looking to do is install an LSD you can do so and it will not affect your current final drive. Therefore whatever RPMs your car normally operates at will remain the same, your top end will also remain the same. You will see a dramatic increase in handling by installing a Limited Slip Differential (LSD) into your car. I hope this answers your question, PM if you have any more.

Sorry for dumb question but will LSD (sport pkg) improve straightline accerleration?

Also, any final info on gearing for 7speed auto - will it be the same as G37?

Thanks
