Default Aftermarket Roll Bars for Roadster?

Anyone know if aftermarket roll bars could be fabricated for the ZR like the ones for this Porsche Boxster?

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/preview...rk_spyder.html

Any recommendations of shops, etc.? Could be a lucrative opportunity for someone with the right tools, for all those guys out there wanting to seriously track their ZR's! I'd be interested in beefing up my roll bars with ones like that just for day to day California highway driving safety...

That's one bad a$$ boxster BTW, "$$" being the opperative word!

The decals on the tail lights make it look like the designer was dreaming of a 350Z...

Never saw any before. I have seen a few ZR's that have painted the covers to match the exterior. tough to do since there is a slight texture to the material.

$$$$ to do.

btw...

There is a slight roll bar behind the plastic cover....

It doesn't look like it would be too hard to fabricate new, larger loops to attach to the existing crossmember.

I had to laugh outloud about the Z taillights comment. If you look at it that way, it would be a hell of a lot less money to customize your ZR and have the same performance as that Boxster. I mean $233,000!?!?!?! You could gold plate your ZR for that!

FYI, the bare metal roll bars are now painted at the factory (Tochigi) with the same color as the exterior in the new ZRs. Then the plastic cover are put over top.

I agree not too hard to fabricate...but to make it look right is another story...

I've been trying to find an answer to whether or not an after market cage/roll bar could be fashioned to fit the ZR that would pass track racing approval and still allow the top to operate wihtout interference. I still haven't got a satisfactory answer.

I asked one official and showed them the pic...they said no problem!

the current ZR already tight in space. I don't see how you going to put in new roll bar.

There is quite a bit of headroom from the top of the existing "actual" roll bar (as opposed to the top of the plastic cover) and the soft top now. It seems easily possible to extend the height of the stock Roadster roll bar by 3-4 inches without touching the soft top and also providing more headroom for helmets, etc. when tracking--especially when you are 6-4"!

I was thinking the same thing but I still haven't seen an actual installation or even a design that would meet the height requirements in effect at certain tracks.

Look at this area while the roof is closing.
