I've only had my 2005 350z 1.5 weeks. I'm in Washington state. It doesn't look like many of our cars, based on pics,
have a front plate--isn't it required?? I don't have a plate on mine, nor has there ever been. My plates comes soon so was trying to figure out if I had to use the front plate.
Legally yes it is required in WA state (it is printed right on the registration) but you usually won't get pulled over for not having one. Keep in mind however that if there's ever a situation where the cops would WANT to pull you over and need probably cause, they already have it.
Here in Colorado there's a requirement to display a front plate. Besides the potential of getting a traffic ticket, there's also the possibility of gaining a Denver parking ticket for not having a front plate on display. The $50 fine is pretty steep and not appealable by the parking referees...
WA here too, and I have gotten pulled over for not having a front plate on my 4door Z. Fortunately the cop wrote the ticket for 'altered or disfigured' front plate instead of no plate (larger fine I'm guessing), so I was able to get it dismissed.
tx it is required but i havent run one in at least 10 years. for the nissan i had the stillen license plate bracket which screws into the tow hook area. the one time i did get a ticket, went to the court after screwing in the holder, they looked at it and fined me $10. it was back off the car by the time i left the parking lot
It's a gamble in Tx whether if they pull you over or not. I got pulled over last year by a State Trooper for not front plates and he gave me a "warning"... i'm still riding with no front plates lol.
For long road trips, I zip tie my plates onto the grill to avoid any stoppage.
