(My posts/sig are strictly for playing devil's advocate. I do not think we should get rid of any section of my350z, nor do I think allowing any topic to be discussed here means it is supported by the owner/admins/mods... including street racing)
street racing forum was very informative in a lot of ways. It gave us an idea of how our Zs stack up against other cars and also the real life benefits that we gain from our mods. Now we only have bench racing and dynos to argue with.

Most of the stories in that forum were inflated and I would only take for a grain of salt. It was a bench racing forum....if you make gains and benefit from modifications...you have the F/I, Intake/ehaust, and suspension forum to post in. And stacking up to other cars has sooooooo many factors put into it that you just need to do it yourself if it's that important.
- BTW I'm not ranting at you...just the whole concept of that forum

You have no idea what any of this is about. Of course a lot of people do it occasionally....but having a public forum with its own section makes it seem more of an endorsement for some people (and might make it seem like....everyone's doin' it...why not me?) You know? Save a couple lives (or even expensive tickets) and this closure was worth it.

Why do we mod our cars? To make them faster. What is the best way to judge power levels of a car? At the dragstrip. Your driving skill is measured in seconds at 60', 660', 1000', and 1320'. The trap speed is indicative of your power level. If you want to whine about "not being able to race from a roll" at the dragstrip, then you truly don't know how to mod/drive your car--and you definitely should not be attempting it on the road.
You're wrong about only being able to compare cars' power by comparing dynosheets. Dyno results (whp) are a representation of a car's power based upon many many variables, some of which can be negatively/positively modified by the operator. A dyno should only be used as a tool for tuning. When properly tuned, the immediate results can be seen at the dragstrip--higher trap speed (and hopefully a lower ET if you have the skill).
Comparing timeslips between cars is 100% acceptable and 100% legal.

Between smoking, drinking, drugs and criminals I doubt anyone really thinks actual street racing is that big a deal when it comes to impact on society
I dare any of you "mature" name callers to go the Highway Traffic Safety websites and pull the numbers of people killed in auto accidents --- post the numbers and see how mant are labeled "street racing" deaths --- even allowing for the blatant misuse of the term the numbers will show how big a difference there is between drunk driving deaths, DWI/DUI deaths for those who are high and even the random inattentive driver deaths
Thats my challenge --- then go to the FBI website and pull the murder numbers down and show how many people are killed ON PURPOSE by others
When you take a step back and look at the whole picture "street racing" is such a small percentage of deaths in this country youll begin to realize that the media bias towards publishing this dribble about "the problem" we have its clearly an assault on the automotive hobby.....even if actual enthusiasts took it to the track and never street raced --- an idiot in a dodge ram would speed next to another idiot and authorities would call it a "street race" --- if either one of them gets into an accident its another "street racing" death....
If you want to be mad at something or someone, be angry at the main stream media and work on ways to show people that real street racers and racers in general take this hobby very seriously and keep safety in mind as much as possible
If you can honestly tell me road racers have never gone above the posted speed limit on their favortie strecth of twisties through a mountain or by the coast then maybe you might have a legit beef with drag racers who do the same thing on a lonely stretch of open STRAIGHT road --- compared to the risks with twisties I think drag racing is a cake walk when it comes to minimizing risk on the street....but what do I know --- I sometimes race folks for the FUN of it under acceptable risk conditions ---- just like drivers push their dailys up in the mountains
For "batman" --- is name calling a measure of maturity? The irony is just too much ---- a guy named "batman" calls me an idiot and tells me to grow up....wow....do you on robin race on the same team in San Francisco?
Heres a question for "Batman" Use the red phone and call all the professional racers you can and ask them if they have ever sped on public roads....if they have ever drag raced someone on the street....if they have ever pushed their cars through a twisty sections of road.....I would be shocked if they even answered NO to any ONE of those questions --- I dont care if they are NASCAR, F1, WRC, INDY, CHAMP, OVAL, DRAG whatever racers.....they have all done it and many still and will continue to do it
Do I agree with the ones where public safety gets thrown at the window, no....but maturity will prevail eventually and race selection will get better over time
My humble opinion anyway....

Whoa whoa big ****....i supported the damn racing forum...my "batman" name relates to my maturity??? since when are we supposed to act mature when we pick a damn name for a forum...ive always used that since i started surfing forums back when i had my Celica and have kept it...i dont give a flying fudge what you say about that. The question you ask me is irrelevant since i liked the racing forum...sooo whats your point, i would answer yes to your question...i never follow the speed liimit..always 5mph above(minimum, and to those that hate...i speed and not swerve through traffic when i do this)...besides that i agree with what bboypuertoroc and now what you said....the street racing forum should have a set of new moderators (**cough cough bboypuertoroc...seemed like a knowledgeable person on the street racing forum**) that volunteer for it and that have supported it through this thread....not allowing for stupid/ego/and plain stupid wreckless racing threads. A person that knows cars will be able to determine a legit race from a bluff. I mean whats so hard of doing that...by closing it...random threads of racing are going to start popping out around the whole forum
Why not open up a street thread in the "premier member" (AG) section... that way you can avoid all these legal issues you are worrying about and everybodys happy... I mean, there is straight up hardcore **** in the AG section... A little street forum is not going to hurt... Plus, I bet alot more people will become premier members (more money to the site)... I know I would join... It would also save all those dumb what if racing threads we used to see, nobody's going to pay 30 dollars to talk nonsense... Would be alot more vids and actuall proof... Just an idea, but sounds like it would work out for everyone

Actully if you wanted to you could talk about street racing already in the AG forum. It is called "ANYTHING GOES"
I think getting rid of it just released all of the trolls into the other areas of the forum

The people that DO have a track and still run on the street do it because they enjoy it. Simple as that. They don't do it to endanger lives, and the SMART ones race when no one is around to possibly cause an incident. Sure there's the danger of them wrecking their cars and possibly injuring/killing themselves, but I would hope they're smart enough to realize this and that they would know not only their limits, but the limits of their cars. Hell, speaking of wrecks... I've seen more wrecks at drag strips then I have at street races.

People are going to race anyways. The only thing the closure is doing is taking away a place for them to share what happened.
Tony (isn't ranting at anyone, just making points)
hmm so what happens if vids of runs between Z's and other cars are posted in the video section? Will they be subjected to deletion? I'll continue to have my fun runs on the street from time to time, *when* the conditions are right. But if I do come up with some video's of me & a couple buddies having some fun, I'd rather know if those vids will get deleted so I dont waste the time posting them on this forum.

CENSORSHIP = WEAKSAUCE!!!!!!!
We're all adults here (I hope) and we can make our own decisions. So there shouldn't be any need for hand holding.
C'mon... "Cars don't kill people...people kill people".
