Default Brassy Sound

I have replaced the head unit with the Kenwood DDX-7015 and it seems to have quite the brassy sound with the stock speaker (I plan on swapping them out soon) but I recall seeing something about turning down the high pass filter, can anyone point me to that thread? I did a search and wasn't able to find the relevant information. TIA

Brett

Please elaborate. Give another description for "brassy sound".

yeah, the highs seem to drown out everything else...there seems like there is little bass, and even less mids...thank you again for your help

Your Kenwood DDX-7015 should have some kind or treble or eq in the hea unit check the head unit manual. try adjusting the high freq. down mid range up tell it balances out, At lest tell you get new speakers and or a complete audio system.

check and see if you have a frequency attenuation option on your HU. Mine has one. If the MID or High cut off frequency is set too high, you'll heard a raspy/brassy noise from the mids. This also holds true if your HU has an amplification setting for mids/highs.. My HU has an option that will amplify the highs on the front output of the RCA's but not the rear(because rear are generally used for subs)

i just isntalled the 7015 also...and noticed that the bass is really weak. I can't access the eq settings tho..it's not selectable. Hopefully everything will be ok once i put my sub in.
