Question Bose really blows???

Everybody talks about how bad the Bose really is, and lots of people got the speakers upgraded, and they feel even if you still using the Bose head unit, the sound is much better with new speakers and sub.
What if you use an after market speakers and sub that has TOTALLY the same specs as the factory Bose.............. will you have the same sound quality as Bose or it will still be much better than Bose???
Or is the Bose problem solely on the amp?

It's not just the speakers. The Bose system has speakers that are designed to work with the system equalization built in to the Bose amplifiers. The speakers use a different impedance rating than most replacement speakers. While you may get slightly better performance by replaceing the factory speakers, be aware that the amps EQ and crossovers will not change. And it is very unlikely that you will find aftermarket speakers with the same characteristics of the factory Bose units.

If they have the same specs, you may or may not hear much difference. The main issue of the Bose system is the amps and the equalization that is built-in. This is the limiting factor in this system.

I personally dont know if i have the "fix" yet or not, but im yet to find ANY cd that im not happy with the sound quality of with the stock system in my touring model. The only thing i dont care for is that with the current technology why they dont make stock head units that decode mp3 audio. Im more upset with the crappy soundproofing job they did with the car then the audio quality inside. Its nearly as loud outside the vehicle when the radio is turned up as it is inside!

Prefix the bose was really bassy

post-fix its really great.

The bass is tight and punchy.

The system has a good amount of power.

Certainly its not an aftermarket powerhouse, but its definitely a big step up from the base system in the other Z models.

Sure if you didnt get a touring you could get a powered head unit and some nice speakers - for $900 - but you wouldnt get a sub, you wouldnt get a changer and it wouldnt look as clean and integrated as the stock setup.

If I wind up changing my bose - it'll be a while from now - as the system always seems to surprise me with how good it sounds.

Sure - after the fix, the bas/treb controls make *minute* changes in the sound - but invariably, what comes in= what goes out.

Ergo, throw some classic rock in it turn the bass up to +5 and steely dan will remain steely dan. However, throw in a 2 live crew CD and you'll be amazed how much bass (tight and clean) the system will generate.
