The green with the white stripe is lined up with the blue on the metra harness and I have that connected to the blue wire on the headunit (note their are no unused wires on the headunit). Any ideas? Did you guys get the problems figured out?
My problem with no radio reception is different. The prior owner installed a cd disc changer since the oem cd player has problems. The player works via an fm transmitter, but it's the only "station" that works. Did he not connect the antenna into the transmitter, or did he manage to disconnect the antenna amplifier power wire?
Since the aftermarket CD changed is operating off of a FM transmitter (I'm guessing 87.1 or some other low frequency that is not conventionally used), then it would seem that the antenna signal wire is connected to the head unit. It's probably a situation where the FM booster signal wire needs to be connected to a 12v+ source. Unless, PO did something weird and only connected the CD changed to the FM input of your head unit.
Either way, you're going to need to remove everything as all the connections are on the back. It would probably be easier to replace the head unit with an upgraded aftermarket unit. Just be sure to connect the power antenna output wire from the new head unit to the FM signal booster/amplifier wire.

In car record player. You kidding me?! Shee, I scratched more records on my turntable in my bedroom! You think I could be trusted with one in a car?!
But, my "first car" had a similar dash and my underdash, slide-out, cassette player was bitchin'!
