To Dynamat or Not?!?!?!?!?!
I'm simply going to install my sub and then start to figure out where things are rattling or might rattle. With only 1 10" I'm not worried about knocking the paint off and honestly I don't think I'll need to much. I've always found this is the best way to keep dynamat usage down compared to the I'll dynomat everything first and find out later I've got an extra 20lbs in my car and a lot less money in my pocket.
heh, yeah, that's what I was planning on doing at first but as I near my installation date, tomorrow, I am thinking more about getting it all out of the way at one time. I don't anticipate paint flakes either but I don't know what all is behind the plastic on the lid other than the rear wiper motor.

in my volvo i dynamated the whole interior( doors, firewall, rear liftgate, roof and all pillars and rear quarter panels, i would have done the glass but i have to see out right). the sound from the TWO 15's seemed to get twice as loud. now with the windows up it feels like my head is going to crush, but i like rolling the windows down to let the 2800 watts, yes 2800 wats of sound out. Not only did it make it louder inside the car, it also made it quieter outside with no more rattles. But when you put the windows down i like to see how far away i can set alarms in cars off. Plus when i was down in VA at a 7-11 i could hear the Fourtys clinking together, almost like they were about to break. I would do it if i were you. it will also make it quieter when the music is off, ie road noise. it is time consuming but well worth it.
I plan on Dynomatting for audio reasons as well as to "quiet down" the rear wheel wells.
I live in an area where they actively mine limestone and there's constantly little rocks all over the place (hence why I also have splash guards). I just hate how loud that stuff is in the wheel wells. :P

The rear wells put out alot of sound especially when there's road salt or grime on the roads. I found that the factory installed sound deadening material on the wheel wells is pretty crappy. In fact, on my Z, it wasn't even completely stuck down or adhered to the wells. So, I ripped it up, and put down some good stuff.
I ended up gutting my entire Z this weekend, and put down about 40 sqft of FATMAT (equivalent to Dynamat extreme, but half the price). I did the entire trunk/hatch, and both storage areas behind the seat. I think the cockpit is pretty tight, and doubt I will mat that portion unless I hear rattle. The compartments behind the seat were modded, and my right side area house a custom made amp rack holding 2 Phoenix GOld amps. The left area houses an Audio Control EQX, and Power DIst block, and a 1.2F PG cap.
Pictures will follow soon, once everything is finished !

I am about to put in my system soon. Is it cheaper to dynamat yourself or just leave it to the pros. Because you can buy it cheap online. But i know shops can buy in bulk and get it cheaper. which is the best route.

I'm new to the whole sound deadening idea. If I'm going to dynomat the doors, how much do I need to do? Should I just cover the open areas? I'm wondering how much and where you need to cover. I play to install new door speakers, so that is why I ask.
