Default Recommend a HU with a hard drive

Anybody know of a single or dual DIN HU with a hard drive for "juke box"? I don't need DVD or Nav.

why not get one with an ipod hookup? that way you keep your music files consistent between your car, the gym, at home, etc.

just my two cents. I was considering a HD deck myself and went with a JVC w/ ipod hookup instead

Kenwood Excelon has a double HU with USB, to attach external HD/flash.
That way *when* the HD croaks (in car's road/temp abuse), it's a cheap/quick replacement.

The USB Kenwood DPX501 can leverage Kenwood's IPOD KCA-iP500 interface,
and Hands free Bluetooth KCA-BT100. Full flexibility, what an awesome unit!
For the best audio fidelity use a digital interface (IPOD/USB) instead of
the portable MP3 phono analog out, since they have crappy $0.20 DACs.

Seems like most units are Sirius ready. Not a lot are XM ready.

After listening to SAT radio and being disappointed (clarity/programming),
I decided not to drink the coolaid and instead increased the new CDs budget.

That unit is nicely loaded with features...but for $2249!
That coin is halfway to a Stillen super charger! Save up.

omnifi dmp1 ... you can find one on ebay for 100-150 bucks... it's a 20gb hdd with a controller that plugs into your HU's line input...

some people don't like it coz it has bugs... but it works well if you're patient and learn how to manage your library...

KCA-BT100 bluetooth hands free phone is an Alpine product.

You could go with alpine, and use there KCA-620M usb interface.

I've been looking at that one. It's hard to tell what the 701 does that the 501 doesn't.

If anyone's still reading this thread... I just got the 701 installed this afternoon. It's also got the GForce knock-off built into it (loads of cheap fun).

I.E. it measures (Approx) HP, 0-60, g-loads etc.
