Default Pioneer AVH + PAC SWI-PS anyone?

ok, so I'm undecided between the Alpine double DIN IVA-W200 and the single DIN AVH-P5700DVD from Pio. Read a few things about both and I think the Pio is sweet. It's single DIN, the front can be removed and it's got up to scratch iPod touch screen integration, bluetooth and a rear camera.

Now: what about the steering wheel volume control issue? I have read that somewhere someone has managed to "mate" the SWI-ALP with the IVA-W200 (I have the SWI-ALP on another HU and it doesn't work) and others have mentioned the SWI-PS to go with Pio. Now, before I go about spending even MORE money on the interface, will this combo work ok? Where does the PAC plug into? Mini jack? It a pain in the XXXX to program just like the SWI-ALP? I'd appreciate any info thanks!

The PAC-SWI-PS is for pioneer/sony models (the PS). The SWI-PS connects to the head unit via a plug. The PAC-SWI-X transmits via IR signals, so if your head unit accepts IR signals that will work. As for the steering wheel controls, I have an 04 roadster that only has cruise control on the right side of the wheel. I put 06 steering wheel controls in with PAC-SWI-PS and they work perfectly. The connection is there for the controls just no wiring in the harness, that actually makes it easy to connect.
