Here is the story, I bought a Pioneer DEL 8600mp Headunit and had a good local car audio place install it since I didn't have time. I told them it needed an adaptor to work with the Bose system, they said no problem. I get the car back tonight and the system sounds worse then before, so I pull the dash out, no adaptor (PAC ROEM-NIS2). I could not remember the name of the adaptor while I was on the phone with them, but I assumed they would know (I guess not). So I need a little clarification, right now is the aftermarket headunit powering all of the speakers and sub by itself? If I buy the PAC ROEM-NIS2 will it utilize the bose factory amps with the new headunit giving the car better sound than stock? If not I am ready to tear this headunit out and go back to stock. Thanks.
PS I used search but its almost worthless.

The PAC ROEM-NIS2 allows you to utilise the Bose Amplifier. You need this to get the proper signal as the Bose Amp works on non standard voltages.
Otherwise the sound quality will be poor and low.
You can buy it off Ebay for approx. $70.

this is why u install yourself. just like taking care of your ride, no one will put the time and care that your would. if you dont know how, get with some friends that do. or, build a relationship with a reputable shop. not ccity or bbuy.

p.s. the Bose system with a quality aftermarket head unit sounds INCREDIBLE! There is absolutely NO need to replace all the speakers. The $70 PAC adapter is well worth the investment.

Does the PAC-AOEM-NIS2 work for the 2006 and 2007 z? Everywhere on ebay says it is for the 1995 to 2005 nissans?
Let me know, I would think it will work for my 2006 but want to get confirmation before I purchase it.
Thanks.

The PAC ROEM-1-NIS2 for the 1995-2005 Nissans *does not work* with the 2006/2007 350Z, according to "Jose" at PAC when I called them last week.
His recommendation was to use the OEM-2, which is not plug-and-play, just splicing and making some choices about line levels, etc. Not a big deal if you've done any kind of audio/electronics work before.
That said - Crutchfield doesn't list as needing either for a 2006/2007 350Z. I called and asked specifically, but didn't get much more than "Well, our system doesn't say that it needs it, so we don't think it does". Lots of conflicting info on this one...
I've got a new head unit (Pioneer AVIC-D3) waiting to go into my 2007 350Z w/ Bose, and I'm going to install it first without any converters (such as the OEM-2) to see how it works. If the audio is poor or distorted, I'll pick one up and add it.
Also, on another forum, I got a recommendation to use the pre-amp outputs on your headunit (if yours has them) and connect those to the speaker connections on the factory harness - effectively doing the same thing the OEM-2 is trying to do (provide a line-level signal instead of an amplified one). Not sure if the D3 has them, I may go that route.
