Noob Audio Guy Here....How Much? $$$$$
I just got an Avic D3 installed at Best Buy, but the guy there said they don't connect the dimmer function to the headlights because of "frying" the electrical system.
Long story short, I ask the guys at Sound Warehouse and they say he's smokin crack!!!!!
So I'm in the store, and I see all the nice shiney new speakers and amps and it gets my juices flowing for better sound!!!!!! The guy suggests a new amp, and a set of component speakers. Of course I know NOTHING about speakers and radios, so I was wondering what a decent setup of components and a capable amp would run me? Have stock Bose right now. I just don't want to walk out of there spending a lot of money for their "junk" speakers.
Thanks for reading!!!!!!!

Haha. Funny you mention that. I am doing a component/amp install this weekend and I also have the Bose system. Looks like I will be completely replacing/bypassing everything in the Bose system. Will let you know how the install goes. I am not looking to spend a ton of money either and went with the Polk DB6500 components from Crutchfield and the Alpine MRP-F450 4-ch amplifier. Good luck!

How much $ you want to spend all matters on your preference of how good to you do you want things to sound?
I'd say for a decent setup it'd at least cost you 1K$ installed for components, rears, sub and amps, and the necessary materials for installation.

If you guys need some Rockford F. speaker wire just let me know: https://my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=285118

I just replaced my entire Bose system a couple of weeks ago. I was on a limited budget and was quoted prices (including installation) that were waaaay over it. Fortunately I found that one of the audio places here is owned by a couple of guys I went to high school with a long time ago. We got reacquainted and they knocked some dollars off the install cost. Total cost came in under $2500 and I got a great (to me) system.

I have Rainbow SLC265 components (a nice German company) powered by an MTX Thunder502 that sounds awesome.
Just look for speakers by Alpine, Boston, JL, Diamond Audio, MB Quart, etc. and a quality amp that does 100-200 x 2 at 4 ohms

I agree with paul, but it is really really tough to find a way to listen to the speaker before you buy the thing. The only thing (at least in this POS state) that anyone has is crappy xplode and pioneer speaker in their display.
FWIW the only speakers I will ever put money into again will be CDT.
And amps...Elemental designs FTW.
hope it helps.
spend good money on some quality fronts, screw the rear fill. buy a decent sub and a great amp and you will be happy.
In my experience, and this is only my opinion. Front componets (including crossovers) and a good amp pushing them is the key to a good system.
my order of priority
1: front componet
2. amplifiers
3. headunit
4. subwoofer
alot of people worry about the sub before they worry about anything else, but in my opinion, great bass is relatively easy to get, but great mids and clear highs are much much tougher.
so If I had to pick a setup for you I would go with
front componets:
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...B20E0A5A13A7D2
amplifier: (run 4 channel bridged to 2, save single channel for sub)
http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...roducts_id=550
sub:
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...B20E0A5A13A7D2
wiring:
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...B20E0A5A13A7D2
head unit:
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...B20E0A5A13A7D2
install:
around 600 beans for simple install (put the tweeters in the kick panels and unhook the stock ones.)
total price:
componets - 500
amplifier - 500
subwoofer - 300
wiring - 130
headunit - 400
install - 600
there ya go 2430, maybe cheaper depending on install prices.
thats being conservative, others may disagree

oh and the other thing about being conservative in your car stereo is this....
If you dont spend good money and take the time to do it right the fist time, it turns into a big freaking money pit. It will go something like this:
you budget on your speakers, you install your speakers...you ride around for a while, you hate them, eventually you replace them. now instead of having a killer front componet set you wind up with a set that your just "ok" with and have already spent 400 bucks on them, and you could have just bought the killer set for 400 the first time. 100 for the first set that you hated and now about 300 for a decent set.
Im telling you, buy good ****, because if you budged to the extreme youll hate it, replace it and spend more money on it then you would have if you would have just bought the good stuff from the get go.
much cheaper to do it right the first time.
