Question Non Bose 350Z to a Bose 350Z

I was wanting to ask some questions. I am thinking of adding a Bose System to my 350. What I was wanting to find out is if the wiring is already there, which I am thinking it is. If not how much trouble is this to add? Reason why I want to keep Factory/Bose is because I have the steering wheel controls, unless these controls will work on a aftermarket unit, which I doubt. Could someone help?

i believe the wiring that is necessary is already present but you just have to change out the speakers. i might be wrong but ive sat in a bose Z and the sound quality wasn't much better.

Will a 2006+ Bose MP3 deck plug right in to an 04-05 Bose non-MP3 car?

Converting it to Bose will cost a fortune in parts (unless you can source from a wreck) since Bose HU requires Bose amps.

Steering wheel controls can easily be retained with aftermarket HU; look for HUs with "wired remote input". You will also need an inexpensive adapter PAC Audio makes (Crutchfield and many others sell it).

By the way,

Thumbs up Thanks!

I do appreciate all the help. Just checked on the HU, Alpine, JVC, Pioneer DVD Nav units. Got a choice of three. So again thanks!

the 06 has a slight curve to it, so it might stick out of your dash (which is why the 06 dash kit is different than the 03-05

Unless you have some motive of keeping your car Nissan original, I highly recommend not going this route. It will be expensive, difficult to do and you can get alot more for your money by going aftermarket.

Yeah I am going to do the aftermarket stuff as well now that I know you can still use the steering controls.

Please go aftermarket and don't travel down the Bose route. Spend half the money and get double the performance. Please.... for me.

Default Bose w/ Sirius

I did it & followed Zboater's setup below:

https://my350z.com/forum/audio-and-video/80720-sirius-pnp2-ipod-install-on-z-roadster.html

Also, did the Bose upgrade from Frankmusic:

Your HU should be SAT ready. Just use the PacNiss to get CD quality sound from Sirius.
