stoping the ratling
trying to see what the best way would be to get rid of the insane rattle i get from the back hatch area when my subs are bumping.. seems to be the hatch itself and the outer rim of the cargo area... what have you all done to fix the rattle to make your z rattle free?
I would deff. recommend some type of sound dead material. IE: Dynamat, Edead, there are lots of different types. I personally used Rammatt. Also, make sure you use the Ensolyte foam as well. Trying doing a search on some of the brands listed above. There are several threads here listing different brands, how-to's and photos. I hope this helps.

From exp. I can tell you most of the rattling comes from the actual hatch, just remove the panels and apply some deadning and automotive carpet, the problem should be gone...(make sure to remove, rear wiper motor and deaden behind it)

another question while this thread is active.. why is it that when you open the hatch when the subs are bumpin that the bass diminishes where as when the hatch is closed the bass is there and soundin good, my friend told me the sound waves need something to reflect off of, when i let me subs hit while the hatch is open it doesnt sounds to pretty.. im sure theres as a very simple and logical explination but when i installed the subs i was under the impression that i would be able to show people how they sound with the hatch open.
Google is your friend. Try looking up the terms "cabin gain" and "transfer function" as they relate to car audio. You'll learn all you wanted to know and then some about the question you're asking.
