Default Door Sound Dampening

Ok, I've read a few threads on this but somehow cannot find the one thread I saw where the user actually did what I am thinking.

I just placed an order for RAAMmat, Exsolite (sp?), and the adhesive. I want to apply this to the inner part of the outer skin (inside the door) as well as the inside panel (behind the interior panel).

My one concern is removing the metal plate in order to get to the inside of the outer skin area or inside the door.

One guy did this and did not say he had any problems but others had issues with the door afterwards.

Has anyone else attempted this? Removing the metal plate and/or door glass to apply sound deading inside the door?

Thx.

Awww Yeah! They're here:

First question:

Why do you want to do this? Have you heard of that panel rattling?

I am installing new SQ sound system. I want to make sure I reduce exterior sound as much as possible. I do not want my Polk SR6500 components to go to waste.

Yes, a step by step would help. I am basically at the point where I can start removing the panel but don't want to **** anything up. It looks like the window motor mount is connected to this panel. Do you have anything like pictures that you can share?

Default Pix

Well, I said screw taking the door apart. I didn't want to deal with the hassle of resetting the window and more headaches. I just went ahead and did 2-3 layers of RAAMmat along with Ensolite over that.

I will be posting more pix soon when I get the SR6500's installed.

just hope your window motor won't break. It will suck trying to remove it.

<MY FINGERS ARE CROSSED!> (I am not takin that #h#t apart) Seriously though, If I had to I could probably do it. That would give me a chance to get the whole inner door RammMat'd.

That looks good. I did the same thing as you. Rather than doing the entire inside of the outer skin, I just did a 10" X 10" patch behind the mid. It made a noticeable improvement over only dampening the inner skin.
