Default I need sound advice!

I have an Avic D-3 and Alpine Type R components in the front doors. I've been running the Type R's off the head unit and it sounds ok. Should I install an amp to power the Type R's? If so can anyone recommend an amp?

(I also have two 10" Alpine Type R subs (left over from my other car) and keep pondering whether to install them or not because I like having space in the hatch during road trips!)

Ok, I will amp them. Any recommendations on the type of amp?
Also, I was against using pods because u loose the cup holder. So I did the grill modification with fabric.

Also any recommendations on using the 10" type R subs? I've read nothing but negative remarks as far as using the stock mounting behind the drivers seat. Being that I want to keep my trunk space as well as spare tire that's the only choice (mounting behind the drivers seat). Maybe I will forget the sub altogther and just amp the type R's. I'm looking for suggestions...

Thanks

if you are only running front stage then use a 2 channel amp that drives the speakers to full rms at 4 ohms

if you are running front and rear speakers you can either use a channel amp in a 2 ohm load on all four speakers to full rms

or with front and rear speakers you can use a 4 channel amp that drives full rms in a 4 ohm load

4 ohm easier on electrical and might have slightly better SQ

forget using factory location for sub

get a understrut sealed box for that driver or Mike makes another box that goes infront and under strut

both fire driver toward the rear

if all your equipment is alpine so far get an alpine amp they have small footprint i think they are the pdx series

if you want a non mainstream amp i can help you out with a sundown but PM me about that

350zslp- Thanks for the reply. It seems as I won't run the sub- I need my trunk space and from what I've read its not worth the trouble mounting it behind the drivers seat in the stock position.

I will however amp the fronts. I did not change the speakers in the rear behind the seats because it seems that people say its a waste of $ because of the location? Has anyone got good results from changing the rears as well? Is this suggested that way I will have type R's front and back?

Forget about the rears, if you want you can run the stock ones through the HU. I just did that as a back up. As for front amps, I second the pdx series, have the pdx 2.150. Great. and very small. exclipse xa series is another good one. I would definitely mount the amps behind the driver's seat glove box position, lots of room in there, that way you can save your glove box room

Thank you all for your replies....
When you mounted the amp in the glove behind the drivers seat (in the same area as the subwoofer?) did you install a fan to keep the amp from overheating?

if you are running the amp at 4 ohms and if you use 3/4" spacers to raise amp up 3/4" it won't get hot enough to justify fan
