Default Road noise is insane!!!!

I never realized how bad it was. I took my speakers out so im not listening to a radio right now in the Z im working on a 3 way front active build so i wont be done with it till prob mid december. I was on my way home from school today driving and bored with no radio. I knew the road noise was bad but with no radio it gives me a headake. I have loud tires kdw II's but still i took out my DB meter and turned it on 95 db's with the windows up peaked at 98 a couple times. That will cause hearing loss lol i was at a loss for words. Next stage will more then likely be deadening the hole damn car. Anybody know what kinda price or amount of material id be looking at to deaden most of the car? Anybody else take any measurings or not realize how loud it really is in the Z? also anything cheaper then dynamat and some of that stuff i would have to take out a second mortgage to deaden it with that stuff.

First you need to get rid of those tires and get you something quieter like Toyos. I have those same exact tires and you are right they are VERY NOISY. As far as cost on deadening it just really depends on what brand you go with and what you are going to deaden. Do a search here on sound deadening and you will find a ton of helpful information, I plan on doing my whole car too because I am sick of the rattles and I want my stereo to sound better.

yeah at first i loved the tires they werent loud at all it seems the more miles you get on them the worse they get. Seems im just gonna have to burn through them even faster lol. Ive been searching around and Raammat looks pretty promising def. best bang for the buck it looks like much cheaper then dynamat anyways. I just couldnt believe it was that loud. I usually never bring my home stereo above 93 to 95 db's and that is loud inside my theatre room.

Like you have already figured out, sound deadening and new tires and you will bring that noise down dramatically.

Anybody ever do any thing to coat the wheel wells with anything? So that when you hit tiny pieces of gravel it doesnt sound like midgets are throwing rocks at you? Like some roll on liner for truck beds or something?

My stereo installer resprayed my wheel wells with some coating just for that. I'll have to remember to ask him what it was next time I speak to him.

Ya I put several coats of liquid deadener on my wheel wheels and honestly it didn't make much of a difference.

Check out my use of Hushmat in the audio build section. I used 104 square feet of Hushmat which is pretty much the best stuff you can get. The cheaper the product that you use, the more of it you need to use. Also, adhesion is very important. Most cheap prodcuts that are tar-based will most likely peal off in any kind of heat. It will also evetually crack under cold conditions as well.

I noticed an amazing difference in both road noise and rattle/resonance issues. I have RS-R exhaust and Zero interior besides seats and carpet (for now) and I can actuallyu hear my passenger talking to me. I couldn't even talk on my cel phone before I deadened.

I am going to do it myself, Just slowly getting everything I need to do it and getting all the info I need regarding taking all the panels out of the Z. A good place for diagrams on how to take the Z apart is *********.com

If I were you just do it yourself and learn your car and save some money. Take your time doing it. Myself I would probably just do it in stages. Trunk area first then doors and then the floor boards.

Can you post a link to where you bought the Hushmat? I am interested in comparing it to the Raamat

Thats the where to buy link. I get it from a Canadian distributor so I doubt that'd help.

WOW that stuff is super expensive. $223.00 for 36 Sq ft. It's even more expensive than Second Skin Audio which is probably the best stuff on the market right now. Don't know how it performs either. I am leaning toward Second Skin Audio so far as my sound deadener of choice.

i will eventually get some toyo's when these wear down a little they are still only 7k miles in so i cant justify spending another grand on tires. Hopefully full out sound deadening will make it tollerable till i can afford or need new ones.

Thats prob what im going to do as well diesel im just gonna do it in stages that way i wont have a ton of crap laying around just maybe in thirds.
