Greetings, let be start off by saying I have a performance model Z,so that means no navi, I by no means am I into stereo's I enjoy the stock system but I rarely listen to it. but i would like to add a farenheit screen(i seen the sticky)but is there a car specifiec dvd system strickly for cars and if so where can i purchase one? I would like something I can mount behind the seat so I can retain the stock looking interior?please dont flame I'm really not into stereo's. I'm putting it in to entertain the wife and sometimes small children I drive.
It’s very easy to put a LCD screen inside the upper/forward cubby in your 2003 Performance model Z (as you discovered in your search). It’s also simple to place a standalone DVD/CD player in one of the upper/rear cubbies behind the driver or passenger seat or the large glove box behind the passenger seat, and send the video signal to your LCD screen.
The problem is your stock OEM Clarion H/U does not have an AUX input. So, you don’t have a simple way to deliver sound from the DVD player to your car’s CES. You can add AUX support to the OEM Clarion H/U; but in fact the OEM Clarion H/U is junk, so you are better-off just replacing it. Any H/U you purchase will be better than the stock unit, and you get an AUX input with the aftermarket H/U.
My suggestions:
Its dimensions are: 10-1/16"W (12-3/8" with bracket) x 2-1/2"H x 6-9/16"D. I think that will fit into one of the small rear cubbies behind the passenger or driver’s seat, but check the measurements.
The dimensions on the upper/rear cubby slots are 10.5"W x 2-1/2"H x 6.5"D. So that’s going to be a squeeze, but it fits with a little custom fabrication. The front of the DVD player will protrude slightly, so you will need to lose the door on the upper/rear cubby. But that’s no big deal. You will also need a finisher-bezel.
The best part about using one of the upper/rear cubby-slots is the DVD device is accessible without moving the seats. The downside is this installation requires minor custom fabrication to fit a bezel around the DVD player for a professional-finished look. If that isn’t important, just install the DVD player inside the large glove box behind the passenger seat.
And… when you get this done, consider adding an external amp, replacing the front component speakers, replacing the rear coaxial speakers, and adding a SubW.

My suggestions:
- Install the 7” Farenheit LCD screen in the upper/forward cubby.
- Replace the stock OEM Clarion H/U with any aftermarket H/U that has an AUX input. Anything you install will be better than the stock H/U.
- Buy a standalone DVD player that you place in either of the upper/rear cubby-slots behind the passenger or driver’s seat, or inside the large glove box behind the passenger seat.

^^ I’m pretty sure that the stock OEM Clarion that comes in the 2003 Performance model does not have an AUX input. I replaced mine about 5 years ago, so I can’t look at the original H/U. Check yours by toggling through the functions.
If you do replace the H/U, you might also consider a H/U that has a built-in DVD player. That saves having to install and wire a remote player.

^^ The DVD device (player) can be anywhere. Its output is sent to a LCD screen where you view the image. In the Z, a good position for the LCD screen is in the upper/forward cubby.
