Anyone make tweeter pods for the a-pillar?
Just getting ready to start building up my audio system and was wondering if there was a vendor or forum member who sells tweeter pods for the a-pillar? Thanks!
On a scale of 1 - 10, my ear hears the 10's, but on a scale of 1 - 10, my budget is about a 4.
I need a happy - medium here.
I've been here for a pretty long time and that is the only option I've ever seen for any type of speaker mounting on the A-pillars. No company mass produces anything, so custom would be the only option.
No problem, it is refreshing to see a new question that can't be answered from a simple forum search. I placed my tweeters in the stock location and I love them. Good luck with your build.

i also went through the same thing looking to see if any tweeter pods available. although my installer offered a custom setup on the a pillar we came to agreement to try stock location 1st and then see if i liked it or not. well i liked it. sounds pretty darn good
you should have no trouble making them sound nice.

The only problem I see with mass producing pods is that everybody has a different listening position. I want my tweets pointing directly at my ears so the pods gotta face that way. I'm 5'6 so my 6'4 cousin would be way out of the tweet's direction so it'll sound different for him.
As for just basic 'face towards eachother' type pods then that would be ok I suppose. I'm pretty **** when it comes to my sound!

Some of the components I have been looking at come with angle mounting pods. I guess I can try and see if those might work out, too.
I'll probably be happy in the stock location with a good set of components, good quality deck and amp. No reason to make things more complicated than they need to be.

Here is a a different approach to installing tweeters in the A-Pillar:

That looks pretty good too. I just need to start playing with all the locations when I get my audio gear.
I wonder if crossover points effect how the tweeters sound in certain locations?
Tweeters are the most difficult because the high frequency sound is very directional. If you direct the tweeters “straight across” (i.e., putting the tweeters in the sail panel), it’s very challenging to balance the sound for both the driver and passenger. That’s simple because the right tweeter is so close to the passenger and the left tweeter is so close to the driver. The solution in this case is balance the tweeters for either (driver or passenger), but you cannot do this for both.
A better solution is what cdoxp800 does, and describes in his thread: https://my350z.com/forum/audio-and-v...placement.html
cdoxp800’s thread is just great because it describes the concept fully, and his thread is also a DIY. Most members here do not go to this extent (conceptual details along with specific installation instructions that include pictures).
Here is an example of staging the tweeter’s sound.

A successful installation depends upon bouncing the directional sound from your A-Pillar mounted tweeters towards the center of the car. If you get it right, the sound is great. The driver and passenger hear left and right, but neither channel is overwhelming.

As for your thread, z1 knows what they're talking about - never dealt w/ him for business before but have read his posts. Imo custom is always a cool option - this of course depends on how much $ you're going to spend and how much u really care about the stereo in your car. I just mounted my tweeters in the stock location with my monkey man dremel action, but it looks good (clean like stock... Until you look behind
) and sounds good enough for me. Of course, going custom and having what no one else has is always fun and exciting. If u do go custom please post pics. Good luck!
